Default What is the best way to pass your test?

A friend of mine wants perhaps to do a crash course in driving to pass her test. She can drive and wont need too many lessons.

Can anyone recommend the best way to go please

Kill the examiner and take over his identity.

If they can drive then just get a few lessons pretty close to the test date(assuming theory has been passed ?)
Maybe a 2 hr lesson the day before and another lesson before the test, it depends on their level of skill.

The easiest way to pass your test is to be able to drive and not screw up the test in the first place! Same as any test really.

The test is all about discipline, making sure you do all mirror and blind spot checks right on cue, showing a competent control of the vehicle, and good awareness of all hazards around you whether static (signs, markings, road layout) or other road users (vehicles and pedestrians). If she already has the ability to control the car then a couple of hours with an instructor should tidy her up if she responds well, but many of the things which may fail her could be habitual behaviour and under the stress of a driving test can be difficult to overrule, so she may need a few more lessons than she/you thinks to make good and driving common practise.

The exact way you are expected to drive is detailed in the DSA book 'Driving Essentials'. The test can be very ****, and in some areas such as where I teach (Leeds) irritatingly so. I had one learner asked to pull over to the roadside 17 times in a single test, and each time they have to do MSM and decide on the necessity of a signal before pulling safely to the roadside, then do a full 360º check again deciding on the signal before moving off safely. I can understand doing this 3-4 times, maybe another for uphill and downhill starts, then obviously whilst preparing them for the two manoeuvres, but a further 10 or so on top was ridiculous.

On the manoeuvres it is critical that she does the essential observations, reacting as appropriate to any hazards, and shows a good control of both the speed of the car throughout, and the steering to maintain good road position throughout.

I suspect her chances would improve dramatically if she was sober

Seventeen times? Was a reason given for this? Perhaps it was at the month-end?

P.S. My examiner was cut out of the wreckage of his mini-bus, when he was hit from behind by a petrol tanker.... hence the threat !

Just hope they dont ask you to do reversing around a corner.

For some reason of the 3 ( parallel park, reverse round corner and 3 point turn ) the one I could never get right first time was the reverse round a corner.

Thankfully they asked me to do the 3 point turn and park instead, which I did perfectly !
