Default Newborn gift/gestures

One of my best mate's missus has just popped out a sprog.

Now, whilst writing a congratulations card, it has occurred to me that maybe I should do something a little more?

Gift? Meh, not really got the mindset to go shopping for baby girls tbh.
Voucher? meh! May as well give them money so they can spend it where they like rather than being tied to a particular store

So Cheque? How much? £10, £20, £50?...£100....(cough)

Or do I sod it, be a tight git and just send the card?

You usually see them get teddy bears and a healium baloon. Or a few baby grows and clothing.

Me, i would pop £20 in a card. They grow so fast that they probably wont even wear what you got them.

Up to you really. If it's a really close friend, then maybe give an amount you can afford so they can get what they think best.

Otherwise, get some sort of keepsake, something the baby will grow to want to keep years down the line, something special. Depends how close you all are.

I like that!
My mate's just had one, we ended up getting him half a dozen bottles of his favourite beer (Innis & Gunn ), her a giant cookie saying 'It's a boy!' and some clothes for the kid. A bit for everyone. Ended up costing more than expected mind.

Go to next and ask one of the staff to get you the cutest must have outfit for a baby girl and buy 0-3.
Simple.
Money is nice, but something hand picked shows you care (more)... if indeed you can be bother to care that it.
