Stargate Universe
Aired in the US last night
Just watched it & im not sure what to think, totally different to SG1 & Atlantis. It has potential though.
Surprised they got Robert Carlyle in it.

Caught some of it this afternoon. The young techie chap (Eli?) has annoyed me already, I get the impression he's meant to be some proto Rodney McKay, but alas he's just annoying.
I think Carlyle seems ok, seems like a cross between carter and jackson. Young is meant to be, well, a younger O Neil type, and he seems ok (shame Justin Louis was on SGU and didn't reprise his roll as Ray in season 2 of Durham County, a very odd, but good, toronto area based show).
I didn't like Atlantis when it started, only really got into it mid 1st and start of second season, so I'm prepared to give SGU a chance.
Also annoyed by the wailing senators daughter, yeah your dad died (Shooter McGavin!) and you're upset, but enough with the 20 year old shock n angst thing.
IOA types are hopefully going to be killed off, but alas won't be, can't be doing without their little games.
It's certainly meant to be darker than prior SG series, which I think is a good thing, time they kicked it up a notch, made it more gritty.

It does seem similar to BSG
I cant help but think though every episode will be a case of them visiting a planet then rushing back to the ship.

I just downloaded it and will watch tomorrow as my wife was addicted to Stargate Atlantis. The problem is this is made by the channel themselves (i.e. not much money) so I am not holding my hopes up.
Just downloaded Warehouse 13 and that is okay, a little slow but funny and clever in places.

Pretty sure a friend of mine worked on the scenic art for Warehouse 13, said it was somewhat odd/interesting. He pitched it to me as "Imagine the warehouse you see at the end of Raiders (Of The Lost Ark) and then think about all the other kinds of weird and wacky things that might be in there, and how they got in there and who goes out to find these things"

For me it was like a mixture of the following;
Star Gate;
Obviously.
Battle Star Gallactica;
Because the had to leave the planet in a hurry and are trying to get to earth.
Star Trek Voyager;
Because they are light years from home and are trying to get back.
Blakes 7;
Because they are on a strange alien ship they know nothing about.

I thought it was ok, they've definitely taken cues from BSG which is no bad thing. Hopefully it'll shape up as the season progresses, just hope they can steer away from sloppy script writing. I watched all 4 series of BSG back to back, one of the best sci-fi series I've seen, it was fantastic.

Ok, the reason for the confusion is that she was in an Atlantis episode under the name of Julia Anderson, which was her maiden name. She married and changed her last name to Benson, hence the billing as Julia Benson. Thus it's one and the same person.

Yep SGU is dragging a bit, and Robert Carltles character is getting very irratating But the baps saved it for me
Yeah the SG series as well as BSG and when it airs Caprica are filmed at the same film studios based in Vancouver, Canada.
Oh watched the new BSG mini-movie 'The Plan' last night and must say it kicks a$$

It's starting to drag a bit now, character development is poor and episode 4 was half angry rush running around shouting. A bit of the big but lovable buffoon Eli in some sexually awkward moments, and a few scenes of people running around in the dark panicking.
I was at least hoping they would clear up the mystery of where the two who jumped through the stargate got to, and how the spaceship is clever enough to find planets with materials to repair the ship, bur not take evasive action to avoid flying into a bloody great sun.
And those jubilies are nice but I prefer
