Question Sky Talk and Broadband - Do you still need to pay BT anything?

As above!

We are moving into a rented house for 6 months and BT would want £120 for setting up a new line - even though the house has a phone line fitted already.

I may go with Sky but not if I still need the BT line rental and set up charges.

Thanks in advance!

DOn't know about setup charges.

But I moved from BT to SKY, and I confirm you don't pay BT anything thereafter

I pay BT for Line rental and sky for broadband.

If you pay for everything direct with sky I think you get it a little bit cheaper and they pay the line rental to BT.
Personally I didn't want sky controlling everything....

I think the answer to your problem may be to contact Sky and see what they say. Maybe not even mention the BT issues and just let them get on with it and charge you the standard amount.

Otherwise you may have to look into a cable option.

If you don't have an active landline, Sky can organise for the installed non-active line to be made active. There is a phone number on the Sky website which you need to call.

Give it a ring and report back to us on what they say regarding charges, as I know a few people who have considered it, as they hate BT and are unlucky enough not to be able to get fibre-optic cable services.

Well BT will transfer everything for free and even knocked £5 per month off my bill

For any one who is interested, the customer service number for home move is 01324 450468 rather than the o900 number
