Got one of the undated 20p's
You know the ones with all that fuss a while back:
The Undated 20p
There seems to be loads on ebay, even one at a Buy it now for £150,000. Yep, 150 grand! Bit of a sob story on the ad, but I suppose if you'd lie through your teeth to get 150k for a 20 pence coin. Not that you would
Anyway. I don't know what to do. You can get 50 quid from them right away, but I'm not a coin collector or anything, but I'm thinking it might be better to hold on to it. I'm not in any urgent need for money, well not 50 quid anyway. Will swap for a mint 22b though
Any suggestions?

Just out of curiosity, do you know why the Mint is prepared to buy them back at 50 quid each? They mention something about 25,000 registrations. Does this mean that they have 50 x 25,0000 = 1.25 million quid to spunk on these defective coins?
I guess the more they buy, the more valuable those left in private pockets become.

Thats true. Although that link looks the part, its not related to the Royal Mint that actually produced the coins. Well thats what I heard. So if thats true, then these are just like all those gold companies on TV offering to buy your gold to sell on for more. I also heard that the Royal Mint have to destroy defective coins, making them even more rare. But you know how these rumours start, so I take it all with a pinch of salt.

This is a page on the official royal mint site about the undated 20p. I would have thought there would be the same information, or a link to the undated 20p site.
Having read the undated20p site, I don't think it's anything to do with the royal mint, it's just some coin collection company.

I've never really understood coin collecting. It's easy to buy these 20p's at the minute due to the recent media. But in 10 years time, what can you do? If you list on ebay. what are the chances of a collector looking everyday after all the fuss has died down.
I'll more than likely keep it. After all, I can't buy anything for 20p in our vending machine at work.
