See Swine flu vaccine rushed through safety checks - Times Online
"... It takes several weeks or months to make flu vaccines, which are cultured using chicken eggs. The European Medicines Agency said the fast-tracked approval procedure has involved trials of a “mock-up” vaccine and that the speed would not compromise patient safety. “The vaccines are authorised with a detailed risk management plan,” the agency said ..."
So they've approved *mock up* vaccines but the one that is actually injected into people has not been tested......

... to see the vast amount of money to be made from the vaccines. I'm sure the drug companies, though, only have people's health on their minds. Especially as they're kind enough to forgo testing of the jabs here in the UK so they can make us better even quicker ...
Dunno about anyone else here but there is no way I'll be going anywhere near it!

I didn't pay enough attention at the time, but there was a woman on the radio the other day explaining how she was dead against having any kind of vaccination due to them containing all sorts of stuff, including mercury. She went on to explain how the whole system behind vaccinations is corrupt with the main beneficiary being the drug companies.

And that's pretty much entirely BS. Vaccines haven't contained mercury in years (and never did in the UK). And the vaccine companies would make vastly more money by selling medicine to cure diseases than vaccines to fight them, so why would they bother.
Typical anti-vax loon.
As for the OP, the "reaction" occurred ten days after the vaccine, so the vaccine was almost certainly nothing to do with it. I got bored with the sensationalism of the piece after thirty seconds, but let me guess: non-on gave a name to this "disorder" she has? With millions of people getting the shots, the odds are that some people will get sick soon afterwards. But that does NOT mean the vaccine caused it - the word you are looking for is "coincidence". Have you ever noticed that apparently linked good events are coincidence, but the same for bad events is always causal?

"... Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sibelius has not only given immunity to the makers of Tamiflu and Relenza for injuries stemming from their use against swine flu, she has granted immunity to future swine flu vaccines and “any associated adjuvants”. ..."

For example, Two thousand schoolgirls suffer suspected ill-effects from cervical cancer vaccine - Telegraph
"... There was no evidence to suggest "isolated cases of other medical conditions" were actually caused by the vaccine, and not just a coincidence, the regulator's report said. ..."
[Cervical cancer jab but the principle is the same].
Why should I trust a supposed vaccine when a) it has not been tested, b) the drug company are given immunity for liability for any issues with it. i.e. I can't sue them! and c) they're making shed-loads of money from it. If you can't see any *issues* with that set of circumstances then go ahead, go get your swine flu jab. I'll remain rather sceptical about things. Oh, and d) in this (swine flu) case, why the panic when it's actually a *mild* flu ..?

Also its not right to say that the swine flu vaccine hasn't been tested - it's made in the same way as the normal flu vaccine just with the H1N1 strain rather than some other strain. The way that the flu vaccine is made each year is that the techs looks at the most common strains around that year and use those for the vaccine - all they have done this time is use the H1 N1 strain.
There is tons of crap written about vaccines out there - the thing to remember about this is that the decisions around vaccination etc are informed by the Health Protection Agency (lots of doctors and other very clever expert people - my mates Dad just retired from there) and the ill informed muppet politicans just rubber stamp it.

The concern is because of an antiseptic being included in the vaccine, called Thiomersal. This isn't required for the vaccine to work, but the manufacturers can't produce it quickly enough in single-dose vials, so they are having to supply multiple dose vials which introduces a cross-infection risk. The Thiomersal is being added to avoid the cross-infection risk.
Thiomersal has been used in vaccines for a long time, but has been phased out of pretty much all childhood vaccines in US and EU for close to 10 years because of concerns that it can cause neurological problems in people with mitochondrial deficiencies or blood-brain barrier deficiencies. Thiomersal is close to 50% mercury by weight.

But that story was all over the media recently and the link I gave gave the same details as others. I was only using to show how *coincidence* is used as the *excuse* to explain away almost any reaction to a vaccine jab.

"... In order to push the H1N1 vaccine through the clinical trials process quickly, approval will be largely based on data from previous flu vaccines, mainly the H5N1 avian flu virus. After the spread of bird flu (H5N1) several years ago, a protocol was designed that allowed testing of a generic vaccine into which the part of the vaccine specific to H1N1 could be inserted. This allows for minimal testing of the complete H1N1 vaccine, as the differences between this and the H5N1 vaccine are relatively insignificant ..."
Why should *we* be the test subjects for something just because the drug companies are saying, basically, it's too expensive to test our vaccines properly, so let's just say it's nearly the same as last year ...'. No way Jose!

For a start, papers such as the Torygraph have a shockingly bad record at reporting science stories - I would take any story like that with a pinch of salt

My GP warned my against it. Said there was not enough evidence to suggest it was safe. I would stongly recommend that any vaccine with mercury inside it should be avoided. Mercury is horrible stuff, and has caused my awful problems with my health. I am only now just starting to get my life back together after having all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.

Which has never been used in the UK, and which the Americans stopped using more than ten years ago. I wish some the anti-vaxers would keep up: you're supposed to be talking nonsense about squalene now. You know, fish oil. Because there's a tiny bit of that in each flu vaccine these days and that will make you brain drop out.

Let's try the NHS then ... Immunisation - News - Mercury (thiomersal) and Vaccines Statement: 16/01/03
Oh look "... There is a DTaP vaccine (diphtheria/tetanus/acellular pertussis vaccine) licensed in the UK that does not contain thiomersal. This is not routinely offered as part of the primary immunisation schedule because this vaccine is not as effective in protecting against pertussis as DTwP ..."
The implication is that vaccines NORMALLY had mercury in them at that time (16/1/03) ...
And how about http://www.mhra.gov.uk/Safetyinforma...ines/index.htm - from the 'CSM Statement' pdf doc part way down the page (from 2003) "... The only vaccines used in the UK routine immunisation programme that contain thiomersal are the diphtheria, tetanus and wholecell pertussis (DTwP) and diphtheria and tetanus vaccines. Thiomersal is also present in some influenza and hepatitis B vaccines. There is no thiomersal in MMR, Hib, oral polio, meningitis C or BCG vaccine ..."
So, mercury is/was present in UK vaccines. As I've posted a link that disproved your statement the first time you posted it above but you then restated it, why the h3ll should be take any notice of what you say on the subject?

Mercury is really awful stuff. Some people just don't react to it much at all, for others it can be devastating. My health was ruined from the mercury that leached from my fillings. We are talking really small quantities. My health continues to improve slowly after their removal, but its a long process.
