Default James May Toy Stories BBC2 8PM

Just a heads up really. It should be a great watch as his previous programs have been really interesting and easily understood.

I just caught him on BBC breakfast and he apparently was a slacker and was not very bright at school. There is hope for us all to be more brainy.

Great programme, very emotional I thought, and nice to see it has a home. Those kids will love taking their kids to see that in years to come.

Wow! just Wow! Can't wait to see the rest of the series. I can't help but envy Mr May living out his boyhood dreams, not to mention his flight to the edge of space. Lucky, lucky man.

Brought a few memories back I grew up a stones throw from the school and Raf Cosford. Many happy hours spent on base at the museum.

Yup, I may only be 32, but I sure made Airfix kits

It still is a very military county with 3 raf bases and 2 Army.

I feel young again watching that...If he can now do a show that combines all his programmes,,,, models, scalextric, driving fast cars and then going to the pub and trying the beers, all at the same time...slip in the odd "fit" female, heaven!

I throughly enjoyed watching that program. James is great at these sort of programs, makes them really interesting to watch and learn new things. Roll on the next episode.

That programme made me want to do one of their classic 1/24th scale aeroplane kits again. My favourite was the JU87B Stuka - I think it was Airfix's best ever kit, and trust me - I built a few, lol. I've done it twice before; once when I was a kid of about ten or eleven and once when I was about twenty. Strangely, I found the Spitfire one the least challenging and a bit simplistic, but the Hawker Hurricane, Messerchmitt ME109E and the Stuka were simply brilliant. Huge kits, though.

Who else had airfix fighters hung by cotton from their bedroom ceiling? Looked like they were mid-flight.

You've not done the supercharged 1930 Bentley, have you? Better than the Stuka, in my opinion.

Who did the Saturn V rocket? I did. Three times

Was it just me who used to put hot needles in the fuselage and canopy to symulate machine gun attacks......

Many a war was fought on my bedroom ceiling, models hung from thread and drawing pin, everready cylce lamp used as a search light.

Love it.

I tried building a kit with my son 3-4 months back, he was 4, now 5...

It turned into a battle of wills...

Me. Right see that part numbered 1, break it out and put it there.....whooooow not like that, you will break it.

Him: You said break it.

Me: Like this.

Him: OK

Me: Now do the same for that bit there, thats it carefully...Good.

Me: Now put some of that glue on that bit and press it through those little holes....whoooow NOT THAT MUCH.

FFS.

Me: Like this.

Him: Oh.

Me: Right see them two long bits 4a and 4b they make the body, brake them out while I clean up this glue off mummys table.

Her: What ?

Me: Nothin..

CRACK

Me: Whooow, we need that in one piece, that tail bit has now snapped off.

Him: Oh.

Me: FFS.

Him: Can I play the Wii now.

Me: Yes go on.

Maybe next year.......

He has these now, the little plane in the middle is about the small airfix spitfire size, the Harrier and Russion thing are huge...dont think much of the Harrier pilot though.

I would have given my right arm for that Harrier when I was 5....

Dont fancy hanging them from the ceiling either.
