I Have Just Bought a Car Unseen...but...
Within the last week I have just bought an Audi Q7 from a main dealer, 150 miles away. On the whole I am fairly happy with it, apart from the following :
- small windscreen chip. I didn't notice it until I was half way home as it is behind the rear view mirror.
- I specifically asked, and was told, the tyre treads were 6mm front, 4mm rear. According to the 101 point Audi check, they are 4mm front, 3mm rear. (These tyres are approx £275 a corner)
- There is a cigarette burn in the roof headlining.
OK I know I bought it unseen, but surely an Audi dealer should be rectifying, or at least mentioning the above before selling me the car
What is the minimum I should be expecting from them ???
Thanks

Well what do you WANT us to say?!!! "Hello, yes this is Mr Terzo, Scoobynet think you should send somebody 150 miles to correct a few imperfections on the car i bought without inspection, what time should i expect them please?"
Then tell us why you need such a monstrous car on the UK roads

Because I can. So suck on my hairy plums

You could ask the dealer to suck on them them as a form of compensation whilst you frot yourself off against roof lining
Or how about the slightly more obvious route that anyone with half a brain would take and thats to call the bloody dealer and discuss the matter with him.

Mmmm you were in a better position before you picked the car up. Also, being 150 miles away you're not going to use them for servicing either, so there's pretty much nothing in it for them.
Everything you mentioned wrong, could be argued, wasnt there at the time of the check those guys did, and has happened since.
I would ring up, ask for the dealer principle and see if you can come to an agreement. Perhaps a free service ??
I like the Q7's. The facelift version is a good looking truck. I would have one, great for carrying your kids, but also great at sticking your fingers up at the eco-green *** jockies ! :-)

Sure it's a *** burn and not a stiletto heel mark
think any course of complaint you had with these quite minor imperfections was gone as soon as you drove off.

Maybe they just forgot to mention a few 'details' and thought if you didn't inspect the car thoroughly before you drove off then all was a-ok.
I don't think that there is much that can be done to be honest, on the 150 mile road trip they might just expect for any of the above to happen, and might just argue for the sake of it. Or they might actually think it was ok when you left with it.
Nice looking car by the way.

Make sure you inspect the person’s oral hygiene prior to any sucking, you don’t want to fall into the same trap twice.

This sort of happened to me when I bought a BMW a few years ago.
I emailed the main BMW website, not the dealers. And I got a phone call from the dealership where I bought it from a manager, who said they will arrange to bring me a courtesy car, take mine back, rectify the problems, and bring my car back. I live in Whitby, and the dealership was in Grimsby.
To be honest, I was impressed with the service they offered me! Hopefully you could get something like that from them!

Can the windscreen chip not be repaired free under your insurance?
It's a bit gutting about the *** burn and the tyres, but as mentioned your best bet would have been to haggle before driving away. I don't think they are really big enough issues to reject the car over.
Just because the car is quite new and from a dealer doesn't always mean it's as described. I went to view a 330d a few weeks back and it cost me over £50 in fuel there and back, had to pay £25 to do a CHAPS transfer to get the money out my savings, and the car was totally unlike how it was described when I got there.
If I were you I'd forget about those minor issues and just enjoy it - those Q7's are bloody nice!

It all comes down to what you asked, and were told, before collection. Did you ask about glass/body/interior damage before doing the deal by phone?
You may have something with the tyres as you were given wong info.
Lessons to be learned here
1) Ensure you ask the correct questions if buying a car unseen and get the response in writing/by email
2) Fully inspect on collection before accepting the keys
3) Audi Dealers are ****
4) Q7's are generally driven by those with less than the greatest of intelligence

Next you'll be telling us its a Cat D and they didn't tell you because you never asked.
I'd be more annoyed about the *** burn over the tyres. If you can afford to run a Q7 you should be able to afford the tyres for it. The *** burn you can have repaired I guess but then I'd be unhappy spending a fair chunk of money on a car that the previous owner smoked in.
Only time I'd buy a car unseen is if it was very low money.

The tyres probably were as advertised, its just that you've done 150 miles on them, Sir.

Make sure you have a full geometry setup as they wear tyres even quicker when mis-aligned. Also check the tyre pressures are spot on.
Leave suspension in dynaimic mode for best handling.
Enjoy the car. very nice car but expensive to run

Don't expect to get very far with Audi. About 10 years ago I bought an approved Audi Coupe and had loads of crap like this off them.
The car was to have new tyres on when I picked it up. Audi Coupes came with 205 tyres but when I picked it up it had 185's on. I spotted it and refused to sign for the car but got a promise they would fit 205's. I went back with the car and they fitted 205's with 3mm of tread on the car (second hand tyres). I had so many things like that I would never buy another approved audi.
The other thing they did was strip the Alan key in the metering head for adjusting the CO'2 and tried to charge me for a new head. They did loose there franchise not long after though.
