Stopped by Police on way to work ...
... with allegation of using mobile whilst driving. Apparently they saw me talking on the phone. My mobile was actually in my suit jacket pocket which was hanging in rear of car - they still checked it though to see if any calls made or received! When they saw there were none they then accused me of having a 2nd mobile phone & searched the car for it! After 10mins of wasting my time they waved me on without even an apology. Every experience that I have with them just pisses me off more

Luckily i have only had one bad dealing with a Police officer, generally have found if you treat them like humans they do the same to you.
Plus i have to say nice things about them as a few days ago, i whilst blasting thru the country roads to work. I seen a police car heading my way, as i was doing 70/80 at the time i had to slam on the anchors, he just drove past and waved his finger at me. Hopefully i get nothing in the post in the next few weeks!

Even if the approach was a bit wrong, at least they seem to be tackling it, if you werent doing it then you have nothing to worry about, ok, sometimes they may just decide to nick you anyway but I would hope that Police have better things to do than prosecute someone who isnt actually doing anything wrong.
They need to drive round in plain cars and nick those who are on talking on their mobiles, plus the fine needs to increase.

If its evidence of an offence - they can. If they wanted to they can take it off you a keep it until a court case. They can aslo search the car for the phone as again it is evidence of an offence.

Put my car in for a service once. Wasn't happy with the job done.
Plumber once charged me more than I thought he should.
Once bought a potato and it wasn't as fresh as it should have been.
Bank charged me too much for my overdraft.
Internet connection has been poor lately.
Another dull, pointless SN thread so every dullard can post their bad experience with the police.

fatherpierre - That's fair enough, but standards of behaviour should be high considering the power they have. There is no point moaning on here about it though, it won't achieve anything. Better complaining if you aren't happy with the way you're treated.

The initial post just describes police suspecting the OP is breaking the law.
He wasn't - nothing more happened. A police officer thought he might have been breaking the law so acted withing his/her powers - did their job....
No more interesting than being stopped walking out of a train station so your ticket can be checked.

To be fair here (and I'm not a copper). Nobody other than the op/ police knows what went on to lead up to this so a copper bashing or bigging up isn't fair either way.
I would have thought they wouldn't waste the time if they didn't suspect something, whether they were right or wrong in the end.
As it turned out the op was innocent and that was the end of it. What I would agree with, in terms of the op, is that they could at least apologise for the inconvenience. Nothing was found to prove any wrong doing, so in terms of decency, the police involved could've said sorry and left the whole experience as more of a positive one... Police doing their job, saying sorry for being wrong/ wasting time.
That said, we also don't know the attitude of TX(no offence meant here)

Indeed.
Your attitude - my attitude.........
No one like being stopped and accused. All about how you talk/explain, but some people can't be talked to.
To post the experience would allude to a bad experience.

Most people's gripes are about traffic related things, though. "I was only doing 40 in a 30", or "the road's clear; always is, 140 is safe".
The RTA is the law, as is not getting burgled or beaten up. Police have a framework to use. Suspicion of committing an offence is a tool we use.

I remember mine - it was by a woman who didn't appreciate me catching her 9 year old son with a lock knife.
Yeah, that's right, I'm a **** cop as I've prevented her son stabbing someone. As you say, you just can't talk to some people.

Which would be why the inexperienced officers spend the first two and a half months with an experienced officer so they can see how it's done.
The phrase which passes around most stations around here is that you aren't a real cop until you've had your first complaint.
