Find me a new phone - please?
I am ready to upgrade, but I have no idea what I am looking for.
I am looking at going back to Nokia as they have never failed me in the past. I have a Samsung Soul at the moment, and it's crud! I never hear it ring for a start, the photo browsing is really slow, and the picture/video quality is rubbish.
I have no need for a fancy web browser, as I am a stay at home mum, I use the net here, also don't need it for music.
Basically it needs to have loud ring tones, and have a good camera on it. I have no time for it to be a gadget, it just really need to be a good phone.

You wouldn't do bad in getting a Nokia 5800 - it's the loudest phone they've ever produced since it is also a music phone (though you don't have to use that facility) and a 3.2MP camera.

I have a 5800 and as good as it is, and fully loaded, I would not recommend it as its a touch screen.
This is the Nokia's with good camera's Phone Finder results - GSMArena.com
Refine the search for what you need from it.

Nokia 5530 - same as the 5800 but without 3G. Carphone warehouse are selling them unlocked for £109.95 (includes a £10 top up for Vodafone or T Mobile but they are unlocked). Spec and reviews are v.good
Nokia 5530 New Illuvia (Pink)l OR Black also comes Unlocked £99.95 @ CPW - HotUKDeals Forum
Bought two of these for pressies and very impressed.
There's also a deal on there for a 5800 for £129 but you'll need to be quick and it is locked to 02.

Cheers guys, some food for thought.
I was thinking of going for something the same as the chap is getting but I honestly do not think I 'need' an N97. I just would never use half of what's crammed on it.
I do however want it to have a least a 4 (or 5) mega pixel camera as anything below is just a waste of time. I use it to do scrap books and stuff with the kids (connect it straight to my printer via usb) and I have been having to use the N95 as the picture quality on my Samsung is just terrible.
I am not adverse to a few extras, I know that I can get a pretty good phone when I renew my contact. So, I don't want to step down on the ladder, as I have less to bargain with next time I upgrade if my phone is pretty standard.
I hope that makes sense?

I would not ignore the N97 due to it being packed with features. If it fits the bill, get it and use the bits you want to use.
Personally if you do, get the full size and not the mini.
All makes perfect sense to me though
I think there are very few people who use a phone to its full potential, so dont feel wrong for not doing so.
have a look through the specs of some of the above, and do comparisons on there too. Compare 2 phones side by side
*just for the record.....
Get a Blackberry...
Get an iPhone
(legally I have to suggest both these days, even though both under par for what you want lol)

Many would say very much so. Not my personal cuppa tea tbh.
Depends what you want from it. Camera way off what you are looking for though, but quality on the newest one meant to be a good improvement.
Marmite phone. (as are many)

Yea, that is on main issue really, i need it to have a good quality camera, i'd say that is one of the top priorities.
The ringing volume on the Soul I have is terrible. I did read that in a review before I bought it, but when I was in the shop for a demo it sounded ok.
BUT, add some background noise from Playhouse Disney, as well as a 2 and 3 year old having a fight over stickle bricks.....well there have been many calls missed while I have owned this phone.

You are clever! lol.
I have a camera, but thats just silly. I have just traded in my change bag for a hand bag, and I am not about to fill it up with gadgets. Also it's just one more thing to get nicked around here.

It was a fair point lol.
But given that there are some great camera phones out there capable of doing the job.....
How about Samsung W880 AMOLED 12M - Full phone specifications
I know you said the you had a bad experience with a Samsung but hey..... 12mp!
Or the Omnia HD.... Have a look at the review. For someone who camera is important, its fantastic.

Nokia suck at the moment, the N97 is one bug filled phone but it depends on what you want? do you browse the internet? text? call? use the phone as a modem?

I mostly phone people, the odd text or few if I am on a roll. I also use it to take pics.
Yes Trout had a fair point, but with bluetooth and all that it's easy with file sharing and bla bla.
I am sure he won't take it personally, otherwise I would be in for trouble.
Snazy that W880 looks nice! Whats the retail on that baby?
