Default Going to Dublin for the first time where should we go.

I am going to Dublin this weekend with the mrs and her parents.

What are the must things to do and see. I really want to do the guniness tour and I would like lunch in the hard rock cafe.

They would like to do a walking tour can anyone recommend one ?

Its our anniversary while we are there can someone recommend someone nice to eat ?

What are the best bars to visit ?

Is it easy to get around i was thinking about buying a bus hop ticket from the airport to use to get around.

Thanks for the help.

Guinness Storehouse is quite good, great views from the Gravity Bar if sky is clear.
Book online to save on entry fees.

Jameson distillery tour is also quite good, if you go volunteer when asked

Have a look at these Walking tours...

What do you want to eat? Price range? Where are you staying...city centre?

If you're staying in the city you can walk everywhere, just make sure you bring a waterproof jacket

We are staying the city centre so we should be able to walk every where.

We like a good italian. Is Dublin as expensive as everything keeps on telling me.

How much should i expect to pay for things.

Yes, it is expensive.
I haven't been in Dublin for over a year so the recession may have kicked it into touch a bit.
Pint of Guinness - anywhere from 3.50Eur to 5.50Eur and not that long ago that was pretty much £3.50 - £5.50 with the exchange rate.
Its marginally better in that respect now.
Dublin was almost (Note almost) as bad as London for prices

Yes mate it's expensive here! Guinness in town ranges from about €4+, draught lager €5+ generally.

Here are a couple of Italians restaurants for you to look at...

Il Primo - Italian Restaurant, Dublin Ireland
(Good selection of wines - you'll need to book for here)

Dublin Restaurant Il Posto - Italian Restaurant.

Alternatively if you fancy a steak this place is nice, good selection of beers too...

Expensive doesn't cover it. Extortionate i'd class it as.

It's a small city so possible to just wander round. There are few must-see sights in Dublin in my opinion. Trinity College is worth a look if it's a nice day, Grafton Street is ok, Phoenix Park and Stephens Green park are pleasant. But getting drunk on Guinness is the activity of choice. Café en Seine is a bit unusual, and Bruxelles is lively at night. Very friendly people, they're what make the place really. Just take plenty of cash.

Temple Bar is the place to go for the craic, it's an area not just one bar, some places increase the price of the drinks as the night goes on, bring lots of money too

We usually go for a long weekend, first night into Temple Bar, find a place with a table for two, or wait if we fancy somewhere, or get a "couple" of drinks first.
Second day, after breakfast, get one of the bus tours, best place to get a ticket is on O'Connell Street outside the Post Office, which is worth a look too.

On the tour you can get on and off where you like and the conductors give a good, funny commentry, usually pointing out places to eat for that night.

If you are there on a Sunday, be warned that NOWT opens before 10am, and quite a lot of stuff is shut all day.

Brilliant City, lovely people. Enjoy.

Oh, if history interests you, Google "The Irish Civil War", and "The Irish Patriots", before you go.
I also recommend an A-Z booklet, buy in your local Smiths or when you get there, cheaper here.

Prices are now awful thanks to Gordon's puny pound

Agree with what has been said above. If you are after a beer and a good feed after wandering through the streets, I would recommend the woolshed on Parnell Street, its an Australian themed sports bar, that turns out decent pub food at decent prices. Avoid Wednesday nights as they have a Brazillian theme night, which is not to everyone's liking.

The open topped bus tour is quite good for gathering up some historical facts on the parts of the city it takes you through.

Stop into Bewleys cafe on Grafton street for a morning or afternoon coffee, or book in for one of the lunchtime shows at the same place. Some good jazz and comedy evenings to be had at the same spot but would advise that you book those in advance.
