The gf has loads of pictures on her phone and wants to get them on her laptop, now I need to set the phone to mass storage, but the option isn't highlighted so I'm unable to select it, could this be due to the fact she doesn't have an additional memory chip in it?

The Laptop wont even recognise it's connected via the USB at the mo, and I have been told this is why.

Can anyone shed any light?

Have you loaded the software that came with it/or downloaded it? I think you need to if its from the internal memory on Samsungs.
