I think it would probably move up to Insurance Group Fu*k Off!

Edited to say: moving up from Insurance Group 17yr-Old-Paying-1k-On-A-Cossie-My-****!

If I was his dad, I wouldn't buy him a Ferrari until he knew how to use an apostrophe.

Mate of mine at university was given a 308 GTS for his 18th (mid-1980s). But he usually drove to Uni in his Porsche 911. Which he later traded in for a Porsche Turbo.

Absolutely rolling in it, and the funny thing was, he was one of the nicest people you could hope to meet - still wanted to pass his degree to get a good job, friendly, no chip etc etc. God works in mysterious ways.

You could expect to pay something like £3,000...

But I have to say a F355 is:
1/ old
2/ slow (380 bhp for 1.7 tons or more), very slow for the money
3/ nice badge. If that's what you want it for, you are just like the old people driving them!

I work in the IT department of a well known insurance company (the one with the tallest building in Manchester ) and a while ago our on-line motor quote system crashed. After studying the system logs for hours to find the cause, it was dicovered that someone had been trying to obtain a quote for an 18 year old male, who had just passed his driving test, for a brand new 911 Turbo. The quote system crashed because it can "only" handle a maximum premium of £9,999.99 One of the call-centre staff wanted to see how much he would be charged for his dream car if he ever won the lottery

Don't be ridiculous!!
I'm 17 and drive a 1.6GL Impreza (group 10) that's registered and insured in my mum's name with me named on the policy. That's £1100! Lowest quote I had for my car in my name was £3500, group 10 remember and I did a lot of searching around, had some saying ~£6k and many saying "NO!".
I guess a Cossie is group 17ish like a Scooby turbo, and a 355 is group 20 without a doubt. You do the math

>>> I've had a few daft quotes from your lot

They refused to provide a quote for me, saying that I am the "wrong side of 30 for that type of car"

I cannot beleive that a lad that age can insure ANY car for around a grand, let alone a Cosworth, which is why so many don't bother with insurance

WTF! I am 28, 5yrs NCB, and got quoted between 2k and 2.8k for fully comp insurance on a Vreg Evo 6 GSR. Needless to say I took the 2k...

Why would they quote you that for an MR2? How modded was it?

Angry

I had similar, £8,400 for an Evo7, full no claims, 29 no accidents or convictions, garaged with tracker.

Theres no feckin way a 17 year old will get 1K insurance on a Grp20 Cossie, not in a million. Blokes obviously bored and having a laugh..

I won a Golf GTI in 1988 (when I was 18) and they wanted 3.5 even then !
I won it in the Daily Mirror and they didnt provide insurance, in fact I shouldnt have been allowed to claim it as I wasnt quite 18, dont tell them they may want it back and my dad will be well pissed of about it as he still has it !

Now pay 427 for Volvo T5 estate with full ncd and 196 for pug 309, oh the benefits of being over 30.

1. A '99 355 isn't THAT old IMO (sure, was made from '94 onwards)
2. 0-60 in 4.6s isn't slow. The car actually weighs 1350kg
3. True, nice badge. I know quite a few sub-30yr olds with them.

Could you be more wrong ?

Derek - that is for a standard MR2 Turbo - Jap import of course.

For the similar engined Celica GT4, they quoted me £623 fc, just cos it is a UK model. They *only* want just over £700 for a UK Scoob Turbo.
