Get Sky HD and answer your own question.
I think i right in saying that most hd broadcasts are not full hd anyway in which case your current tv will cut it.
You have to bear in mind that down Curry's and the like - they will have all their tvs with the brightness and contrast wound up to give the impression of a very sharp picture.
Ps - **** all i have said and go splash out on a bigger Plasma and chuck your current one in the bedroom
Pps - Panasonic TV's have a 5 year warranty at the moment

If your tv is 1080i it should give as good an HD picture as you can get from the HD box. I have got a Panny 42" plasma 1080p and the HD pics, especially the sports ones are very good. Although the Sky box is 1080i the improvement in the picture quality with the new box is a noticeable improvement even on non HD. Certainly worth trying your tv first anyway.

One thing to note is your TV may not have a HDMI input. check iit does. This still wouldn't stop you getting Sky Hd as you can connect via DVI I believe. Lad at work does this and says it works very well.

Yours Hitachi will look great on SkyHD, Used to sell the 7200's and they were a great TV. Very little at the time they were out would touch them picture wise.
