Default Anyone know anything about Waterskiing?

My other half wants a pair of waterskis for her xmas but I know nothing about them. Can anyone recommend a set, make or where I can/should buy them.

She is 6'1" around 11.5 stone and intermediate level. She will be skiing primarily on the sea on calm days and on sea lochs behind either a small 50hp rib or a larger 90hp rib.

Ideally I want a half decent pair and I think it's combo skis we are after where she can drop one and ski on one ski only (when she'd ready of course).

Guide me please....

Can you not just contact your local waterski centre i am sure they will tell/give you the best advice rather than asking us ?

Surely it is a very personal tool for the job and really can't be left to you to decide? I know it is a present but I think it will require a conversation with the intended recipient.

Well I've sounded her out about it and the answer I got was.....

.....torquoise ones

As best as I can figure out she needs intermediate combo water ski's and these O'Brien ones seem to fit the bill relatively well. They are also as close to torquoise as she's going to get

Tell her she will need a good bit of experience before she can go backwards on them!

I think they're a little short - 64" is more like a teen / small womans size ski - I think you want to be closer to 68" - particularly with a boat that isn't that powerful, too small a ski will be very hard work.

Try calling somewhere like Craig Cohoon and asking them.

Would this be a better option? Same ski I think but 68" in length.

That looks a better bet, particularly if she's looking to mono at some point.

Personally I never got on with dropping a ski & went straight to a deep water start - there's a special rope called a deep-V - basically a long V shape from the handle - you put your ski in the V and it holds it level as you start, then it drops out as you get up.
