LOL.

Can't say I'm overly surprised. With regards this phone, there is NO price war. People want it more than they want a cheap deal.

In the end, it will be down to which provider can give them the best coverage/service.

O2 probably aren't worried at all. I'm certainly not putting my head in my hands for not waiting.

Tis a bit of a limited range of tariffs. Wierd!
Nothing there really to attract people away from the other networks.

Or buy it PAYG for 500 and it leaves you 900 over 2 years for credit lol Probably the better option if you have the initial outlay. That way you are not paying for more credit than you need lol

Tesco use O2 as a service supplier - so they are not going to undercut them by too much LOL

Not a surprise really. As said my Mick, O2 is the carrier Tesco are using, so give a little discount and get more people on their network.

I think part of the reason for the high tariffs is due to the subsidy on the phone itself, they have to rape, sorry, get the money back from you somehow and that's where they'll do it, as they don't want to lose more money by discounting the phone further, if indeed they are allowed to do so by Apple.

It's also the reason why the PAYG price is stupidly high for the phone, no subsidy on it, so they pass on the full cost to the consumer.

Here's hoping that the US will get official multiple carriers soon and that the 4G will be unlocked when it's released next year, and Apple will also retrograde that unlock to all existing iPhone users. My understanding is that it would simply need to talk to the servers, exactly as it does not for activation, the difference being that the code sent back tells it's that it's unlocked.

Marcus, in the UK you can unlock your iPhone using exactly the method you mentioned. Contract can unlock at anytime and PAYG has to be 12 months old. I have a officially unlocked 3GS working here in Portugal and will unlock my 3G when I get home, selling it for a small profit.

asw i said in a pervious thread, the price and tarrifs are beign driven by apple, ot the service providers so there's no choice in it
