Default Green, slippery cement paths.

I've got 'em, all round the house.

Last spring I jet washed the whole lot, and then watered them with Jeyes Fluid. I HATE the smell of that stuff. Reminds me of filthy urinals.

By this month it's back as bad as ever, and it's slippery enough for me to worry about our posty.

What can I do to remove it, and how can it be stopped from coming back, or at least kept under control, hopefully WITHOUT me having to jetwash it every 6 months?

TIA

Can you not spray a little weed killer ?

I would assume it kills all green things (even aliens)
We get this at work on the prewash pad, it is mainly block paving and the slimy moss stuff likes to grow around the outside of the bricks, every few months i just go around spraying all the weeds with killer, and usually spray the moss stuff as well....

Wouldn't mind advice on this also as my backyard is the same and it gets rather exciting when you try and bring the bins around.

Standard weed killer wont touch algae and moss, you need to pressure wash it off and then spray the surface with a product like this and every six months there after.

Ahh,ive been dealing with this problem for the last 19 years of landscape and garden maintance, and have recently found the cure.
Have never found a weed killer that works on moss and algie.
Jays fluid has mild results, although if used on tarmac,it can soften it,and you hate the smell(i like it,lol)
But last year found the dogs dangelies product and works a treat.
It was originaly designed as a smimming pool cleaner a bit like clorine.
I think its call hydrocloride(memory fails me a bit).
Got recommended this stuff so tried it on a tennis court that was covered in moss and slippy green crap.
It desolved it like acid and the tarmac came out looking like new from being a half inch deep in moss.
There was no need to scrub it afterwards like many of these moss killers,it does desolved it.
I applied it with a garden pump up weed sprayer but guess you could use a watering can witha fine rose.
Beware though,it was a windy day and 2 hours later my trousers looked like the incredible hulks.....just shreds left
It smelt for about 2 days then it past.
You can buy big drums of it at Scats for about £20.

There are various fish pond treatments that are made to get rid of algae so you could investigate this approach. Perhaps mix up a concentrate and use a spray.

Have paths got a smooth surface finish? IMHO garden paths should be finished with a rough surface, typically by using a yard brush just as concrete is setting.

You'd make a fortune if you could come up with a decent answer - what with 'elf and safety at top of agenda!

Close to plants = Avoid!

The last "good" lot of weedkiller i got was given to me and came as a powder you mix with water. Worked a treat but this ran out during the summer, so i bought some pre mixed stuff in a trigger spray, to be honest it was utter crap and never touched anything, not even the weeds, and neither the grass where i over sprayed.

Sounds like the stuff I buy for €€€€€€ in France.

You can hear the French weeds laughing as you apply it.
I'd be better lighting rolled up €10 notes and burning each weed with one.
