I have noticed locally that a lot of pavement railings (kerb side) are being removed by crossings, corners etc. Just wondered if anyone else within the TfL coverage area had noticed similar.
Not sure what the incentive behind it is, maybe re-researched and found roads and crossings are safer without them ?![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
Round where I live about 80% of them have gone, taken out by TfL, and more going by the week.

Noticed it this week outside Liverpool St. Station, all gone, don't know why though ![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
Makes dashing across the road for my bus easier though

Prob get a good price for scrap too lol.
Following a discussion on another forum, im curious.
Does anyone drive faster BECAUSE there are railings between them and the pavement. Seems some pedestrians feel that is the case. Sounds wierd to me.

If they want to remove pointless road furniture they should start with everthing to do with the bus lanes then move onto the poles with yellow boxes on top not railings that stop people stepping out into the traffic whilst txting on their mobile
Its is strange how speed camera's and road humps are justified by "if it saves one life" but when the government were told keeping the schools shut would save tens of lives they just said so what and opened them anyway, obviously 1 life killed on a road is worth so much more than 1 person dieing in hospital

It could be due to the number of cyclists dying when crushed against barriers by left turning lorries.
(please don't start the anti-cycling rants a la Daily Mail, some of these people made a mistake and paid dearly for it....)

Kieran, someone suggested this on another forum too. It could be a factor, but some of these stretches are straight sections of roads, others on roads lorries are not allowed on.
Personally, I take care when im walking and rarely drive on the pavement so im ok with it all being taken out. But im sure its only a matter of time before something happens where there is a "if the railings were still there ..." comes into it.
Being new to the roads again, as I am, I have to say, returning to the roads and seeing what goes on with a fresh pair of eyes,..... bloody hell!! 8 months off the road and now it seems like a battlefield.

Sadly anywhere near stations etc is a bad place to take them out.
Not sure what it is with pedestrians/commuters that think they can just walk out!

Look at it more positively.
Now you can mount the kerb more easily and take down a queue of soft tissued pedestrians without bending the car on those nasty railings. Fantastic!!
