WTF does RATM have to do with Christmas?
Whether you like the song or not, surely you'd have to admit that having it as the xmas no. 1 would be a kick up the backside for Cowell and, perhaps, the manufactured pop industry as a whole - and that that would be a good thing?

It would be much better if people just did not buy the sh1te that Cowell produces. The current plan just sparks a sales war, where only the record companies win. They will be laughing themselves all the way to the bank over this

Nicola Gahagan, 27, who was doing her weekly shop at the Asda supermarket in Fulwood, described the experience as “awful”.
She told the Lancashire Evening Post: "A member of staff must have put the song on himself in the entertainment section – he was nodding his head. It repeats 16 times.

According to the Facebook page, the group now has well over 700,000 members - and the Amazon 29p download does indeed count.
Personally I went for the live version on the TuneTribe site, no point paying for the exact same track I already have on the album

You missed Nik's point. Bring brought, buy bought
I agree with Luminous on this. Sparking a sales war to spite Simon Cowell is about as ludicrous as it gets. Almost as perverse as blocking yourself from getting petrol at the pumps during the fuel protests. Sometimes humans just don't have the ability to think clearly.

Thing is there is a clean version... it's on Guitar Hero after all!
Not sure buying different verisons would work though... the 'live track' would presumably not be classed as the same song for the chart. Essentially everyone needs to download the same version or no go.... that's how i see it, ready to be corrected though.

Absolutely nothing That's the whole point!

Since Rage Against The Machine are signed to Sony BMG, alongside Cowell's organisation, I can't really see that he will give a ****

Downloaded my copy, I loved it first time round
I think RATM may have some competition from these guys though:
YouTube - Steel Panther - Sexy Santa 2009 [Explicit]
See if you can listen to the lyrics with a straight face
