Sitting back and reflecting on the year behind us - we lost one of the greatest British singer/songwriters this year. Maybe not the biggest commercially, but certainly one of the most influential in his day. It would be hard to find a serious muso of his generation that did not have one his albums in their collection.
I saw John Martyn literally dozens of times around Edinburgh where he played regularly. I also met him a couple of times.
His most famous track
Solid Air
And an insight to a fabulously tortured soul
Hurt in your heart
A friend of mine saw John for the first time in the '80s. On that evening he decided that he finally knew that his career was to become a photographer. Earlier this year that same man had one of his photos used for John's obituary in a national newspaper.
Go down easy John.

Would I guess right that you are sub 22 years old? if so music is not superior in your day, right now. Not to say that every thing is ****e, but look back over the past 20 years (for me personally) and they are every bit as good, not saying they are better, but right now you have a ideology about music (as I did) that at the minute you will not understand, it is just an age thing...pah

I can't work out whether he is trying to be clever regarding my comments on the RATM thread, or he really means it.
Either way he is an idiot - RATM are just so last century if you are trying to be hip.
