Honour based killings
Tragic story in the news of the young girl killed by her father. But why does everyone seem to focus on the females always being the victims - it does happen the other way around.
Its the same with domestic violence to a certain degree and its ended up with male victims embarassed to come forward and nothing in place (hostels, advice centres etc) to help those that do

It was reported that the father who did the killing was concerned about losing the £5K that he would be due from an arranged marriage.
Makes the whole business even worse-if that was possible!

How can any man kill their own child or any other family member for "honour", we need to be all touchy feely and integrate, not offend but if one of my lads "Integrated" a little to enthusiastically he would most likely be beaten to death and his girlfriend cut up and stored in a suitcase just because they found each other attractive but werent in the same religion, same species, opposite sex I dont see the problem myself, even if its the same sex I would be dissapointed to a certain extent but if thats the way they are there is nothing I can do.
I think whilst people belong to religions the human race will never progress fully or intergrate completely.
I am happy for my kids to bring anyone home, they will be welcomed regardless of where they come from, as long as they are decent individuals then I dont care, and if there parents dont like my polite, well educated, intelligent caring boy with their offspring then they can f*ck right off and stick their mumbo jumbo religion right up their righteous *****.
My grandad dint come to my christening as my mum got me christened C of E not Catholic, minor rift at the time but they got over it but even in the same family and broadly the same religion it causes problems, I teach my kids right from wrong, manners and whatever else, they dont need religion, I avoid any involvement with it and feel no more part of my own religion that Islam, Hinduism or Judaism, up to individuals to do whatever they want but I dont want it.

What does this have to do with religion?
Looks more like (predominately male) parental control freakery.
One might concede that cultural factors may beat work here, but the religious angle demonstrates a degree of naivety IMO.

Well the five K. is definitely a cultural factor in my book.
It is all a bit Romeo and Juliette isn't it?
Interestingly, the almost complete disintegration of marriage as an institution in our society has made this sort of thing obsolete in the indigenous population.

AFAIK, Christianity, Judaism and Islam are pretty much identical in text.
Perhaps it is the person practicing the religion that is at fault in these cases?
ie they are morons.
