Does anyone know if we're likely to come across mosquitos if Skiing in Italy ? I've a friend who's seen a program and it reckoned mosquitos were now a problem. Are they likely to be found on top of mountains ?

Mosquitos, I would think not at the top of a mountain, they need water not ice, besides I would be worrying more about the tottering idiots on planks all around than little insects.

Tend to agree - problem is that my friend is only 9 yrs though, he reckons he saw it on a TV program and now he's worried. Just trying to get some info to re-assure him.

I have just got back ( well a month ago) from Ski-ing in France (Les Gets), I know its not Italy but I never saw one Mosser !

My problems were self inflicted, too much booze and the next day got to the top and had to walk down (oh the shame) as my coordination had gone completely and it was a complete white out.

been recently to La thuille nice little place close to Mont Blanc
i'm not an expert but mosquitos in the snow ??? they like it hot and humid idiot snowboarders will be your biggest problem.

I doubt you'll get any issues from mozzies. Perhaps the odd sarcastic comment from snobbish skiers though...
