Nokia 8210 screen

The screen on my Nokia 8210 has gone. I know they are prone to this.
My question is this, my phone is 10 months old so no problem having it fixed under warranty, but has anyone in this situation managed to upgrade instead of having the phone fixed? It seems a shame to go through the hassle of having it fixed when I can upgrade it in a couple of months anyway.
Cheers

Get it fixed free, then upgrade at the end of your 12 month contract. Then sell the 8210 when your 12 month contract is up. Makes sense in my book.

I upgraded from 8210 to 6210 just over 2 weeks ago - for the same reason [screen on the blink] but I had done over 12 months on my contract. I kept the 8210 and the upgrade cost £29.99. The 6210 after 2 weeks does not work!!! Cannot get a signal at all. Am coming up against a brick wall with trying to get the damn thing repaired. Dealer doesn't want to know, cos it's over 2 weeks. Rang Club Nokia and was given addresses of 2 local repair centres and have tried for 2 days to get them on the phone with no luck. I am having to struggle using the 8210 with the nearly non-existant screen display.
Think carefully before getting another Nokia! I wont again.

There's a place in Leeds called RadioPhone Services or something, they're a Nokia service centre. They've always been pretty good for me, although they sometimes takes ages to asnwer the phone and even longer to reply to emails. I can vouch for how busy they are, the last time I visited the centre.

Hope this helps.

Got it all sorted now. Visited one repair shop...not a good result on the 6210 tho
apparently the internal arial has become 'unattached'
no-one will admit liability - they said it could have been done by using car-kit, so I have had to take out emergency insurance [£30.00] and Orange are sending a new phone to me.
On the bright side tho - don't know how come, but the repair agent said my 8210 was still under 12 months warranty and they replaced the dodgy screen for nothing![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Sorry Redkop, but how is going from an 8210 to a 6210 an upgrade ![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Surely you mean a DOWNGRADE![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Early 8210's DID have screen faults, but later versions[on the later software] are fine The service centre probably replaced the screen under warranty cos of this
I had my early 8210 replaced 3 times for screen faults but the last has been perfect for over 9months despite being dropped and abused loadsa times![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
upgrade to the 8310 now thats an upgrade![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
