Default iPhone on Orange - SMS delivery reports

OK have at last succumbed to the lure of the iPhone mainly because my Nokia 6300 finally died.

To me a phone should firstly be a great phone and then great for SMS. All other things should be secondary.

My Nokia did that all day every day.

The iPhone may be able to tell me which direction is North and what the weather is in Guatamala, but as a phone it is not as good as the Nokia. I will persevere though and that leads me to my question.

How do you get the damn thing to send an SMS delivery report. One simple option on the Nokia SMS menu, but cannot find it anywhere on the iPhone.
Have been told to put RCT and a space before my text messages, but that does not work.

Surely the stupid thing can handle SMS delivery reporting. Anyone got any ideas?

Looking at this link suggests the RCT is the correct option

Tip: How to get SMS delivery reports on an iPhone

UK

T Mobile *0#
O2 *0#
Orange RCT followed by a space
Virgin *0#

Pointless feature in my opinion, have you ever had an SMS fail then?

I just used *0# and I received an instant delivery report.

Suspect if the RCT option isn't working it's down to Orange and not the iPhone.

Yep! Especially sending to overseas mobiles. So not so pointless really.

Let's rephrase the question - has anyone out there manged to make it work on an Orange iPhone?

f1 fan

Found this on another site...not sure how true the charging is?

I’m using iPhone on Orange UK and the code to get delivery reports is “RCT ” (that’s case sensitive with a space after the 3 letters). Also, you get charger 1p per delivery and the recipient of your text will be able to see the “RCT ” in the text. How strange!

There must be a simply menu option you can enable as this is the best phone you can get. I'm shocked you've not found it as the interface is so user friendly and intuitive. Stupid f1 fan!
