Hardly any need for me to say what a relief that is and what a star the donor is.

I didn't know it was down at Lyneham now. Is that its permanent base? Are the RAF giving it support (eg. hangar, etc.), since it had a cosy hangar for all those years at Bruntingthorpe.

Good news regarding the donation, but how many times are we going to read these stories? Even after a fairly successful summer display season, they are still struggling to survive each winter on the funds earned. I guess Pleming is still holding out for that mythical long-term principal sponsor to bank-roll the operation. I don't know what the Heritage Lottery Fund would make of a Red Bull liveried Vulcan though after all the money they spent on her, like the Sea Vixen used to look:

I'd rather a Red Bull Vulcan than no Vulcan

I spent quite some time trying to get the financial manager of Lloyds to buy a Vulcan when they were about to be sold off for £3K delivered, so that they could run it for advertising etc. That was when they were sponsoring the air show at Greenham Common. I was even able to offer him a full crew to fly it for them! He wouldn't bite unfortunately but they did give us a very nice lobster lunch.

I was told the going price was £3300 delivered, as long as you had a long enough runway Shaun. I had to go to Carlisle to assess whether it wwas safe to land the Vulcan there
