...makes me think it's time to post this:

Now I flew helicopters. So I think it's as funny as anything. I'll wager the jet jockeys on here will too, because they all have a sense of humour.
Probably.

I remember being at Mildenhall air show some 20 or so years ago, it was raining, clod and wet. i was stood behind the vulcan is it was being warmed up ready to display - the heat from those monster engines warmed me up a treat, went home stinking of parafin mind but well worth it.)
Whilst working at an airshow up north i stupidly walked behind oone of the red arrows as he was powering on to move to taxi, boy did i run like hell, missed out on a ride in the backseat of the grace Spit that day - Bugger! However i got p1ssed in the bar with 2 A10 pilots (we where drinking screaming blue ******-****** cocktails 'till the small hours) the night before, one of them suggested i borrow his oxygen mask as i felt like cr@p, and climbed up into the cockpit. Whilst there he then got me to fire up and run up both engines so all in all it was a good day

lol - I've just linked that to my facebook which is sure to get a rise out of some people on there.
As not-real-aircrew-aircrew, I make it my personal mission to wind our pilots up as much as possible.. They only come on sorties to be our brew bitches as they haven't got anything better to do

Can't understand why he felt he had to wear four sets of wings though!

Never heard of that one!
Although I have heard a story about when he met his Squadron Leader's daughter at a black tie event (due to the wife of the S.L being ill), the Squadron Leader was heard to say "There's nothing wrong with a navigator, but you wouldn't let your daughter marry one".
The Squadron Leader became his father in law shortly after...

The Nimrod was generally referred to as a NigNog by those who did not fly it. The old story was that in the early days of the RAF, all pilots had an attendant assigned to them whose job it was to tell him where he was while flying, and when they landed, it was also his duty to go off to the Naafi wagon and get the pilot a cup of tea. He became known as a NaafiGetter and with time it became corrupted to Navigator!
