I need help!!
I'm trying to find a nice weekend break for me and the Mrs for her birthday in August but am really struggling for inspiration!
I have a budget of £400 so that eliminates abroad. Was thinking London theatres or maybe Scotland or even Dublin!
Can anyone please give me some ideas. I'm sure alot of you have past experiences somewhere nice.
Eternaly grateful!

London can be quite pricey by time you take it all in. I live inside the M25 and just a show and a meal can come to £150-200 if you make an event of it, add accommodation and travel and you'll get a night out.
Have you though about the Isle of Man. We sent the outlaws there for their Golden Wedding (it was their honeymoon location) and that wasn't badly priced. Ferry across rather than fly and it leave from Birkenhead iirc so not too far

Does she like West end shows?
I love it there, but my sis would hate it, not her thing at all!
Maybe a little cottage in The Cotswolds Welcome to the official web site of the cotswolds
You might have to think a bit more about what she likes, and then tell us.
Would she prefer to live it up a bit, and have a few glasses of wine in a modern wine bar, or relax in front of an open log fire, just the two of you?

As JonMc says, you can easily burn £400 in London and if it's her birthday then it won't be much fun if you're constantly watching the bill. That said, if you stay off the beaten track and travel in and out of town then you can make the budget go much further.
Personally, I would be happy with Sunday lunch at the Pant-yr-ochain

Right. Cheers lads. Here we go.
I had originally thought about a London musical. Hairspray, Mama Mia or Lion King etc. I was a little shocked on the total package cost to be honest. Hotel and Musical, £200-£250, Train down from Wrexham, £120 per person return, plus food and drinks its gonna weigh in around £500. Crazy for a night or two away!!
I've also considered Dublin but I thought that was too much of a groups away place. I have been twice on stag do's and don't think its really suitable for a romantic break.
I also considered Edinburgh or Glasgow but really don't know what there is to do up there!
Other than that i'm stuck.
She's not a fussy woman to be fair. She would be just as happy going on a scenic walk as spending all day in posh bars.
If I had it my way i'd be taking her to New York for 4 days but that really is silly money!! £1500+ before you spend a penny there!!
Oh well....one day!!

If she likes good a scenic walk as much as posh bars then York is good - lots of history, great to walk around, some good restaurants and bars.
Leeds is good for shopping and bars - some good hotels too.
Edinburgh - brilliant place to stay - top hotel and night out will eat your budget though. Cheaper hotel and a days walking around the history would be good value though. All that and the amazing castle. If it is the end of August then you will need to book now as the Festival will be on. Great event - lots of free or cheap shows too.

Well, there wasn't much fun for a girl to have in Wrexham.
As for where else you could go, would she not be happy staying local? A meal and a nice hotel in chester would be lovely, and then in the day a romantic walk around the walls.
I wouldn't know whats it's like around there for the evening as the last time I went it was rather overpriced, so i'd suggest a bottle of fizzy in the hotel room, and maybe surprise her with some nice underwear.

Another vote for York here. Great walking around the old city, great shops and eateries (I can recommned Lucia's just off Swinegate - wonderful food and cocktails and great prices especially before 7pm), plenty of history, museums etc. and if you like the countryside the North Yorkshire Moors are only a short car journey away. The Churchill Hotel on Bootham is excellent - they do weekend specials and the prices are very reasonable. Free parking and a 5 minute walk to the city.

Fancy staying in a castle, right on the border of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales?
Not too far to travel from Wrexham and looks quite *ahem* romantic.....
Augill Castle Yorkshire boutique hotels Lake District hotels Yorkshire Lake District castle wedding Yorkshire Dales hotels Cumbria
We've booked the Little Castle room for 2 nights in June.

You can hire a small car for the weekend for about £75 to really explore the North Antrim Coast - awesome scenery if that is your thing.

Its not really very romantic and its expensive (stupidly expensive)
Depends on what you want from the break.
I've been to Scotland a few times for long wekends and enjoyed it.
You could also travel to N.Ireland, hire a car and stay somewhere around the Antrim Coast - that'll impress your Mrs as the scenery is fantastic there.
