Is this a fish from a tank or pond?

Cat brought this home this morning. Just wondered if he broke into someones house or nicked it from a pond. Hope no one saw him but he must have got it close by as it was still flapping.

From the small image it is impossible to say. But it looks like a plain old goldfish which could have come from a pond or a kid's cold water tank in a house. At this time of year though pond fish tend to stay on the bottom of a pond but they do surface every now and again.

How do you know the fish didn't have some sort of disease, might explain why your cat could catch it. If you've ever seen a film called hotel paradiso with Rick Mayall and Ade Edmondson you'll know what i mean.
