Whats your favourite rally car? present & all time
#1
been thinking of posting this for a while now but I was wondering what your favourite rally car is for the present and all time? For the present WRCs it has to be the impreza
and all time has to be the delta S4
I know that a few people are going to be biased because they own imprezas but I just wondered because everyone I know also loves the impreza

[Flame suit on]
I think that the current Focus WRC is dead horny, especially when running on tarmac. Beats the Impreza by a whisker
[Flame suit off]
All time best car is a tough one - DeltaS4, 205 T16, but I think it has to be the howling Metro 6R4.

The most awesome Audi Quattro - Without which, most of us wouldn't be driving a Scooby I suspect!!
It was so monumentally ahead and that's what made it so good - IMHO!

The most mental has to be the Suzuki Escudo (Pikes Peak), I still find it hard to believe that car actually exists.
Favourite WRC car? Hmmm... the current scoob, or last years Evo 6 (with Tommi behind the wheel). Have to say I'm biased, as I own a 6 myself...
Even as a "dark side" owner, still not sure about the 7...

Nothing comes close to the sound of a properly driven BDA engined Escort RS being flung through the forests. See Robin Bradbury, Phil Collins or Phil Squires on any BTRDA event if you don't believe me.
And IMHO a current WRC car, although faster, is no more of a spectacle than a screaming works S1600 Puma, especially in the hands of someone like Martin Rowe or Patrick Magaud.
And no WRC car alive is as impressive to watch as Andy Burton's Peugeot 206 hybrid. Still the most awesome car I've seen in the forests, bar none.

Yup, Escort sound is unbeatable, but I'm afraid that to watch they just look plain slow!
Best current car? IMO Xsara is sexiext looking, Focus is best all round car.
Best of all time? For pure sillyness, Pug 205 T16, best against its peers at world level, Fiat 131 Abarth or Lancia Delta Integrale.

So many to choose from ...
I had the opportunity many years ago to be a passenger in a RS200 ( a mate was owed a _big_ favour by the local ford garage that had one on display ). That was mental.
The first year I went to the RAC ( Sutton park ) was the year of the SWB Audi Quattro's, and they were so far ahead of the game it was untrue.
I have a soft spot for mini's ( 1965 Mk1 sitting in parents garage at the moment ).
I now have a scoob ... so obviously there may have been some subconcious lusting going on for a few years ( JD Power what ?? )
At a push it would have to be the Audi. Testosterone on wheels.

Best of all time has to be the Lancia Stratos or the Lancia Delta Integrale. Worst has to be the Metro 6R4 - always looked like a kit car to me and it was called a Metro!!!!
Of the curent batch I don't much care for any of them looks wise at any rate.
Regards,
tiggers.

6R4 - does anyone know if there was a 'standard' configuration? I nearly bought a rally crosser a few years ago. 3.6 V8 twin turbo 700+ BHP. 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds on gravel. Awesome beastie, but I was never sure if every 6R4 was like this or just the tuned rally cross cars?
