Question Disneyland Paris?

Thinking of going, friend of Jennys has reccommended Disney's Hotel Cheyenne to stay.

We will go off peak which helps with costs

Looks like £ 400.00 for 4 of us for a couple of days incl B&B and tickets to the park(s)

We plan to drive/chunnel it and have a day/night in Paris as well.

Anyone stayed at this hotel, whats it like?
Any other on site hotels reccommended?
What sort of cost are we looking at for food at the resort 2 days 1 night and any hidden cost(s) we should be aware of?

2 adults + 2 kids 5&7 years old going

Thanks

We are going next week - our 5th time in 3 years!

We always stay in the Newport Bay Club. I think it's a little bit more expensive than the Cheyenne but I think it's a little closer and the rooms a little bigger.

As far as hotels go, all I would say is get one that you can walk to the parks from - the shuttle buses are a pain in the ar£e due to all the Europeans pushing in on them. In fact, that's the worst thing about the park, our continental cousins have yet to realise that you are stood in line to wait to see the character or go on the ride and no, they can't walk in front of you....

Food is expensive, specially with the poor exchange rate. 10-14Euros or so for burger and chips.

No other costs other than the fact the food, drinks etc are expensive. The shops all sell over priced tat as well.

I'd recommend doing a character breakfast. It costs £50 but you get a cooked buffet breakfast and loads of characters come out and make a great fuss of the kids.

On the good side, the kids love it and the rides are all well done, especially the Tower of Terror, Space Mountain , Buzz Lightyear, Star tours and Phantom Manor

When are you thining of going?

We went about 11 years ago - went by coach .... stayed in a Hotel in Paris.

Tickets into the park one day, coach with us all the time, hotel 2 nights, Paris centre the next day, trip on river sienne .... it was brilliant and cost us £250 for 3 all in = dip yer bread

I've stayed at the Cheyenne..........pretty basic but all you need is somewhere to sleep

The kids had a whale of a time so how much you spend is not up for discussion LOL

The food at breakfast was pretty good and I got a bit confused on day one as to why everybody (and I mean everybody but us) simply stuffed as much food as they could from the tables into any container / bag that didn't look like it had food in it..........

Then I discovered how expensive it was to eat in the Park !

OK they searched the obvious lardies for food on entering but the rest of the frenchies just took as much food in as they liked !!

The other thing is to stay up late to watch the fireworks

Shaun

PS Steve VRS is posher than me LOL

Cheyenne is bottom of the pecking order and furthest away if walking.
We stayed in the Sequioa Lodge which was within walking distance and was sort of 3-4* hotel standard.
Room was very good - large, clean, tidy and quiet.
Evening food was an expensive but poor buffet, so we had all other meals in the mall.

We did venture over to the Newport Bay to see how the other half live, but weren't impressed by the interior - it was all pale colours which had seen better days.
The poshest and nearest to the park is the New York hotel, but it looks like a gaudy painted Stalinist high rise from the outside.

Given what you are paying, you can add another £400 in expenses for the 4 of you in 2 days.

Just back yesterday from 4 days staying at the Disney Hotel.

Pros:
Right next to the park, you need to walk under it to get into the park.
Characters just walk about, you can queue for an hour inside the park, you can get them to yourself in the Hotel.
Swimming Pool.
Park open from 08:00, 10:00 for everyone else. Not sure if this applies to other hotels.

Cons:
Large Vodka please, nothing in it. That will be 24 euros please sir.
Cinderella dress for my 5 year old please. That will be 70 euros please sir.

Feel free to ask any other questions, as I said, just back yesterday.

Oh, and the park closes at 19:00 midweek. It is off peak at the moment.
Telly adverts are offering 40% off if you book now, but not sure of the details.

.
Park opens at 8am for all the Disney hotels. We went a couple weeks ago for 4 days and stayed at the Cheyenne. We have a 5 year old and 2 year old. Both adored it.

The Cheyenne is pretty basic but clean, and you don't spend much time there anyway (BTW - you can get a kettle and hair-dryer for the rooms if you leave a deposit).

Agree with the comments above re the breakfast - stock up and fill those bags!

We went half board - wont do that again though as the choice was very limited and the buffet was pretty rubbish - one buffet sitting for an adult is around £21... and that's just with one soft drink.

Food is very expensive and the gifts/toys cost a fortune. The park is incredibly well run though, clean and professional. Wonderful experience for the children (and adults).

We used the hotel/park buses all the time - very quick, fast and worked great for us.

Eating and drinking at Eurodisney is like dropping the bar of soap in the shower block in a maximum security jail ..........and bending down to pick it up !!!

The food, c'est teribble. Only half decent place we found to eat was Walt's Restaurant - book it for a window seat upstairs at parade time and watch whilst everyone gets soaked in the rain. The food is a little less kid friendly, but it depends what they eat.

We stayed in the Loire, so it was a bit of a trek when we visited Disney - but great fun.

We went a few years ago, but boy did we pick the wrong time of year.
We went at the start of January and its was busy and ******* freezing
So cold infact that on day 2 in the park my wee daughter(Think she was 8 still) wore the following
Big thick socks
Two pairs of bottoms
Vest and two other tops
A zip up type fleece
Coat
Scart
Hat and gloves

We stayed just out from the park in this place (it was probably 15 minutes on the park shuttle)
Home - Disney Hotel, Disney Hotels, Vienna International Dream Castle hotel, Disneyland Resort Paris, Paris, France, Europe, CastleDream Castle Hotel **** - a statement of quality and service

We only ever had breakfast at hotel.

Food in the park is/was in my experience "rough as ****" and expensive

We actually ate at a TGI Friday's(I can't remember its actual name) type restaurant close to the park one night
It was alright, but a tad expensive.

They didn't really have many fast pass setups which it could have done with.
Aerosmith rockin roller coaster was one of the few that did.
generally the waiting times were all around 65 minutes, some were actually 90
Now I'm sorry, but I don't queue for anything for 90 minutes

Indeed true, was a double though, so a single Vodka would be a snip at 12 euros.

There is a McDonalds in Disney Village so you can feed your family for a reasonable price.
20 euros gets you 2 Happy meals and 2 adult meals.

I know McDs is not for everyone, but compared to the park food, it is pretty good.
Ate one evening in Planet Hollywood, not as good as McDonalds and I kid you not. Slightly more expensive as well

We are off to disneyland tomorrow. Does anyone know if there are any supermarkets in or near the park. We are not taking the car so I need to find somewhere fairly close to the park.

There is a shop at the train station which I believe is reasonable for snacks, drinks etc. There is a supermarket a short train journey away at a big shopping centre.

Just got back from 4 days at disneyland paris after staying at the santa fe hotel. The hotel was sold to us as a cars themed hotel in the brochure, however our room seemed like a grotty bedsit with a couple of car duvets chucked on the beds to me. The bus service was excellent though and we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus.
The food and drink at the disneyland resort is a ferking rip off, the missus paid 27 euros for a bottle of wine in one of the park restaurants, yet we found a virtually identical bottle on sale in the train station shop for 3 euros. Don't try smuggling any cheap booze in though as the security guards are like the gestapo when it comes to alcohol. They even sniff tested my sons bottle of blackcurrant juice.
The park itself is kept very clean and there are some half decent rides there, try to get in before 10 though if you can or be prepared to wait 90 mins + for every ride. We queued today for nearly 2 hours for a ride that lasted a minute at the most.

Just to add that the french in disneyland Paris tend to live up to the arrogant stereotype . Most of the queue jumpers were bunches of French teenagers.
