Mine has just come through for renewal after my first year and the monthly premiums have gone up by nearly 50% plus the excess from just £70 to £70 plus 10% of the final bill
This is with MoreThan and includes life long cover up to £7k per illness. Monthly premium has gone from £16 to just shy of £23.
Anyone else pay less for the same or better cover? I know there are a lot of dog owners on here so thought i'd ask.
They know they have you over a barrel after the first year because anything claimed for in the first year will unlikely to be covered by any new insurance company if you try to move to another company.

I use Direct Line but it has been going up steadily as he gets older. £80 excess, now £36 a month for a 6 year old labrador. I'm pretty sure I'm still in credit though as he had two operations as a pup to remove blockages and had to have over £900 of treatment recently for a prostate problem.

yeah my renewal went up like yours (also with more than).
i called them and asked them to do it for the same as last year. which he could not do.
he then advised to cancel the policy and just re-apply online.
bingo!.
same price as last year.

My better half is a veterinary nurse and pretty much everyone she's ever worked with uses Pet Plan. It IS expensive (staff get a bit of a discount which helps) but they provide the best cover and service by far.
If cheaper is better then i know a few people who go with tesco for that reason, but none of them have had to put a claim in yet so i couldn't say how good they are!!

This new policy will not cover anything that is caused by, relates to or results from an illness, injury or clinical signs your pet had before the new policy starts or the costs of treating an illness that shows clinical signs in the first 14 days of the date the new policy starts.
They quoted me £14.77 which is cheaper than last year so what robbing bastids saying £23 on the renewal doc.
So if she was to get another eye or ear infection which she has had they wont cover it at all if I start it as a new policy. Did you not get that? I guess if you haven't had any claims then it doesn't matter.

B2Z, have you tried ringing them and asking why it has gone up.
This happened with my motor insurance, when I phoned they negotiated the price down to virtually what I had paid the year before.
Worth a go, they will want to keep the business. Good luck

Thanks Lee, yes called them and complained and they said it was due to the high number of claims they have sufferend in the last year particularly with people claiming back small sums that were just over their excess. What did they expect, people wouldn't claim just because it was a small amount? FFS they want your money but then complain when they have to pay out and put everyone's premiums up and the excess.
Of course any where I ask now wont cover her for any reoccurrence of eye or ear infections so pointless changing company. So I can take the new policy for £14 a month but if she gets another eye infection they wont cover it on the new policy.

That's one hell of a hike though. Sorry, I can't be of much help.

We insured our cat with Sainsbury's who were reasonable but I shall have to see if his next premium goes up like yours did.
I think we have to blame the vets whose charges are increasing out of sight now!

Well that time to look again after telling MoreThan to get lost after the renewal came through this morning.
It started off at £16 a month 2 years ago as a puppy and today it came through at £32 a month![Mad](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/mad.gif)
I called up and they said well it's due to the age of the dog etc, she's 2 for ***** sake
I said so what will it be when she is eight, hundreds at the rate you are putting it up.
So said what a bunch of rip off merchants they were getting people to sign up with cheap quotes and then every year whack it up by 50%. Said unless they reduce it i'm cancelling which they refused to do so cancelled the renewal.
So now i've had to give up cover for anything she's had before so will have to look for just basic cover so if anything goes wrong in future she'll be covered.

I cancel and start again every year with more than - it is only worth renewing if treatment is carrying over from one year to the next. Still not found any better cover for the price unless you pay the renewal cost.

I'll get a quote on line from them then and just write off what she has had before. The problem with that is if she gets something that turns out long term then you know you'll going to be shafted by being with MoreThan. However I guess all the others must be as bad?
Can anyone confirm what % Tescos put their premiums up each year?
