Default WTF is "outboundlink.net"?

I wish I knew, because THAT's what is slowing my access to this site, amongst others. It sits for an age with that displayed in the bottom left hand corner along the toolbar.
What IS it, and why can't IB get to the bottom of it?????????

Just stick *.outboundlink.net into a line in your hosts file and redirect it to 127.0.0.1

job done - there is a pile of other ad-****e on this forum that is making it a miserable place to post.

Since I've come back from France, the ads have reappeared on here, including the RIDICULOUS "A-Plan" one that takes up half a page....are you listening IB???

What can I do to get rid again, I have Vista and Firefox?
TIA

We're not bothered either way

If it makes browsing this site possible; Do it; Its your computer and your hosts file, so you can install and modify what you like on it.

There was a good thread in NSR with info of a custom hosts file tailored for SN (amongst other stuff) that seemed to do the job. Can't for the life of me remember who posted though.

It's primarily to stop pirate sites but also blocks spam sites as well... it really does improve the safety of browsing overall (and happens to speed things up as well)

Turning into an A-Typical American forum ie. just littered with adverts all over the place!

Leave it alone I.B. stop infecting Scoobynet with your usual American commercial ways! If we want something WE WILL LOOK FOR IT! We don't need to have it shoved down our throats everywhere we look!

It is amazing though, i remember DePlanke removing my post count, apparently to punish me for talking about addblockers

Now the mods can dish out advice on how to block the junk, awesome.

Can someone help me? I checked and adblock plus has gone. I reinstalled, but it's not active. What do I do now?

Tools > Add-ons > ADBlock plus > Enable

Restart firefox. It should be on then, the logo will be in the top right corner.

Unhappy

For a start, it's not there TO enable, despite me having downloaded it THREE times this afto, and secondly, when I try to download again from that, it tells me it can't because of a "hashing problem"

What do I do now?

Do you not have to select something from a list to activate it.........it had me fooled for a while. I'll have a look for the thread on "computers" talking about it

It's more to stop all the illegal crud, not kosher adverts... but it can block them as well.
