Flight Sunday 11.00AM Gatwick - Orlando with VA has been cancelled.

The good lady wife has found a cruise with Fred Olsen (Black Watch) leaving Southampton tomorrow at 430pm.

Isn't Fred Olsen AKA "SAGA" - The coffin dodgers cruiseline?

I have approx 10 hours from now (02:00) to say Yes/No to this idea of hers.

Any thoughts / comments would be VERY welcome.

The ship does have a casino so that's a plus.
Not fussed about Portugal.
Quite like the idea of Morocco.

Funchal, Madeira is a place my wife has wanted to visit for a long time.

13 nights - cabin=£2600 for the 2 of us then add on Casino costs etc.

Anyone been on Black Watch or used Fred Olsen?

 

whats the holiday then, just flight to orlando? peronally i would consider europe, by car. then you have more options. dont you. i think ?

 

Except that getting the car to Europe might be a challenge - everything is booked!

Cruising is great - sit back and enjoy!

 

I would give a cruise a go.

 

Cruises are ok, aslong as your that type of person who can switch off!!

Some of my colleagues have done them, most loved it... 1 didn't, he can't switch off...

 

The Black Pig isn't the best example of modern cruising, and FO cruises are usually full of wrinklies.

I'd be much more inclined to look at P&O, Cunard and Royal Caribbean, I've cruised with them all and really enjoy it.

 

How on earth do you think you can cope with all those old people? You might even find yourself in conversation with them! You might also find that they are surprisingly good at enjoying themselves with a bit of a rave up though!

Hi Les - we swerved the cruise and flew out to Orlando a week later once the dust had settled

That said - we ARE off to Madeira in a few weeks to lower the average age of the Hotel guests a little bit and increase the IQ exponentially

(Tongue in cheek, that bit)

Sorry for being weird but were you going to Florida for holiday? Can you not just jump on the next flight?

Dont know if the second one is a cruise or what. Glad you got to Orlando anyway and best wishes for the trip to Madeira, sounds good to me.
