Default Speeding!

My brother in law has just been nicked for doing 100 in a 40. I know he's an idiot, but the old bill said they are going to throw the book at him. What do you reckon he will get?? PS He was on a GSXR 750.

I could start a sweep stake, closest to the ban and fine LOL!

Tut tut.

Could you get prison time for that? I have a feeling you may depending on the road but would have thought it's unlikely. I'd expect a hefty fine and 3 years or so ban.

What's his record like?

Any points?

How old is he?

How long has he been riding?

Any previous fixed penalties?

What time of day was it? Late at night is one thing, but that kind of speed during the day when there are likely to be pedestrians/kids around is criminal.

He's a tool, fullstop. 40 zones are usually around high risk areas, so the more he gets the more I'll laugh.

39!?

He isn't a kiddie then! Shocking thing to do at that age ..... anyway ....

A ban is definate - I would say 18 months.

Fine would be £500.

He will probably have 9 points to run after his ban is served - as a real deterent to him ... he is clearly a complete ********

Agreed. Anyone would think this was the Toyota Prius Owners Club, and no-one has ever sped in their car.

He isn't a dick head as a person, he's a really nice guy. But there is a time and a place, and unfortunately he was caught doing it in the wrong place.

Old bill can be a bit leniant if you are on a motorway at 3am in the morning etc.

Come on guys, I was on the A1079 yesterday, in my day it was flat-chat all the way, well 90 mph in an Imp....

Now it's a pot-holed cart track with 50/40/30 mph sections, none of which are necessary, as the only people dying are drunks at 2 AM.

He is facing a proper slap though isn't he. 2 years ban and a £400 fine....

People think, because you own/drive a performance car, you have to speed all over - you don't!!

Depending on the circumstances, doing that speed in that speed limit could mean a charge of Dangerous Driving and if that happened, I know many a Judge who I've appeared in front of, who wouldn't hesitate in locking him up.

1 year ban and 650 quid fine (and if judge is harsh he has to listen to Pete talking about politics for a week)

Surely there is a good reason for a 40 MPH limit on that particular road. I know they tend to err on the safe side with these limits but 100 MPH is so far over the top that neither you or anyone can make any kind of excuse for that!

At the age of 39 he should certainly have a greater sense of responsibility than he was demonstrating. You have to think of the innocents who get caught up in the ensuing accident Jam, you cannot possibly justify what he did as you have tried to do. His safety margins are reduced to next to nothing at such a speed in a 40 MPH limit.

Yes I have been done for speeding often enough in my time just as most on this forum I imagine, but even I would not dream of acting in such a senseless manner as that! What the hell is he trying to prove I wonder!

Well said Les

We've all ignored the speed limit, I've got 3 points for doing 82 on a motorway FFS

But come on....100MPH in a 40 - there is simply no excuse for that, try and imagine the carnage if someone happened to step out in front of him.

I would like to see a hefty fine and a 3 year ban.

Speeding is one thing, we all do it. But 100mph in a 40 Zone? This is out of order.
