What a waste of oxygen that family is. At least I know where my tax goes and I now understand why the NHS and my kid's school are so under-funded

And people on here want to vote Labour back in, when this is the type of Britain they've created in the 13 years in power.

I was out walking by the canal over the weekend. beautiful spot- bingley 5 rise and 3 rise locks and saltaire if anyone knows it ?

anyway some ****** had spray painted in 3' high letters lots of anti tory stuff. on beautiful sandstone walls and on the wall to an old mill.

all stuff like:

a vote for tory equals no social security !

and they don't think vandalism like that makes people more likely to vote tory to try and stop benefit scroungers and vandals etc ?

I strongly suspect that they don't vote!

The welfare crisis didn't start 13 years ago guys, it goes back way further than that

This is wehere parties need to get together and come up with a welfare reform plan that will be implemeted whoever gets ito power. spending £190 billion on welfare a year is unsustainable. Somewhere along the line the imf would step in and everyone is a loser the needy and scroungers alike.
Whilst I agree it has been going on since the 80's though I don't think they had it anywhere near as good as under labour, where this mentality of this "Country owes me everything" has flourished.

And plenty think it was purgatory

She had her many faults, but she also did did many things she had to do - unlike anyone who's been in that position since.

To properly sort this mess, the government will require to take steps that will ironically make Thatcher's Britain seem like the Utopia to which you accuse others of alluding.

There is no question that successive labour governments have been less inclined to sort out the welfare state than any other party - after all, why alienate a large section of their support?

People keep refering back to Maggies Britain. But wasn't she voted in because the previos Labour government made an even bigger mess?

So by the thinking of (When they were last in power...........) Tony's Labour should never have got office.

Cameron isn't Maggie. Different generation.

Youre going to have to let go of that soon, because even if your beloved Labour party win the general election; theyre going to have to make cuts thatll make MT look like she was playing at it.

Class warriors will have to re-think their jaded rhetoric...

Surely if that guy is starting each day with a bottle (I assume he means a WHOLE bottle) of Jack Daniels he's not going to be a burden on the taxpayer much longer - maybe we should have a whip round and see if we can get him onto TWO bottles a day to speed up the process.

Personally I don't think they have enough children. I think they should be allowed to have at least 5 more and extra points will be awarded if any of them are black - do I spot one darky in there already? Good girl, I'm sure daddy is very proud.

I also think each family member should be given a bottle of JD and 2 litre bottle of coke a week (coke is for the kids, probably)

I hope they have a 50" Plasma TV too.

LOL, my beloved Labour party????

Just because I see Thatcher for the evil bitch she was doesn't make me a Labour supporter.

Not my fault you lot have some rose tinted view of her time at Number 10. I lived it and it was crap.

They should be removed from this country!
There was a Dispatches (type?) programme on this a few months ago

A dozen voters have been registered to the home of a Labour candidate in an East End of London borough where police are investigating allegations of electoral malpractice.

The number registered to vote at the home of Khales Uddin Ahmed, running to be a councillor in Tower Hamlets, has risen from five to twelve in recent weeks. But a neighbour said that only three people live in the maisonette on a council estate in Bromley-by-Bow.

Me too. I also remember the nineteen seventies under Labour and they were far, far worse. When the Conservative government did what they had to do to save the country (and 'save' isnt an over-statement), it stung - but what was the alternative?

The highlighted part of your quote above singles you out as a fool. I have absolute contempt for imbecilic class-warriors like you.

Ironically both Dennis Healey and Roy Hattersley now accept that Margaret Thatcher as an excellent PM, who did what she had to do to save our country/economy. Unfortunately the blinkered working class heroes cant let go of their petty hatred. Sad.

Ive made myself sound a little older than I am there. I do remember the winter of discontent though, with every f*cker on strike: huge mountains of uncollected refuse, rats and stench - even the f*cking grave diggers were on strike. The Labour party had bankrupt the country and had to beg the IMF for money to pay their bills. This was the legacy that the conservative party took on in January 1979.

maggie may of had her faults but the pole tax was a stroke of genius . everyone paid a fair amount . look at the council tax now .1 house 4 working people can have the same bill as a young family with only one wage . hows that fair they are using 4times the facilities / 1 old dear on her own only gets a 25% discount wtf is that all about / for the facts and figures brigade , these figures are available on the net i looked up my county councils total bill 178million if you devided that figure by the number of people over the age of 18 working or not it worked out at 123quid a year not 141quid per month . IT DOESNT TAKE A GENIUS TO WORK OUT THE REASON WE WORKERS ARE ALL PAYING SO MUCH ITS BECAUSE OF THE PASSENGERS WHO PAY SOD ALL maggie had the right idea with the pole tax just didnt have the nads to make the dolies pay as well ( rant over )
