new web domains I cant type
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/10100108.stm
These are the first
Egypt: مصر
Saudi Arabia: السعودية
United Arab Emirates: امارات
While I fully understand content being in local language putting the URL in characters not present on everyone's keyboard hardly makes it the world wide web does it?
Net regulator Icann has switched on a system that allows full web addresses that contain no Latin characters.
Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are the first countries to have so-called "country codes" written in Arabic scripts.
The move is the first step to allow web addresses in many scripts including Chinese, Thai and Tamil.

But the same is true for people from those countries. Our alphabet is alien to them too. Personally I just think its going to make things more expensive for them, the will need both a Latin domain name and a script based one.

No its not, right now the internet is 100% in our alphabet and they manage just fine. My mate in Jordan manages to figure out this interweb despite Arabic being his primary language
