Gordon will still be Prime Minister this time next week with a new Lib-Lab pact (one for the Oldies)!

Expect a new General Election within two years based on proportional representation which will be the cost of the deal.

As long as Vince Cable is chancellor, and is allowed to do the job, I can live with that.

Vince as Chancellor - I am not sure I could stomach that!

Hard to decide who it should be though!

So the BNP with 30-40 seats and fundamentalist Muslim parties with 50-60 seats will hold the balance of power. Can't wait!

That wont give him 326 seats, if the exit polls are to be believed.

It still won't be a clear majority so the side deals will shape it so we will end up being ruled by the Welsh.

The pronoun "My" in "My Muslim party number" was intended to bind to the noun "Muslim party number". I'm a devout atheist and I hugely value living in a secular state which is why PR scares the cr@p out of me.

And Labour got their seat as usual. When will these people ever learn
I live in the NE and have already said, my Conservative vote is wasted as the generations of Labour lovers (no matter how useless they are), as these people are so blinded by tradition, Labour will always get in

I see that the early results do not indicate that the public have been taken in by the Lib Dem guff.

Far from getting the 100 seats forecast last week - in most results so far a huge swing away from the Lib Dems.

I'm not old enough to know what a hung/shared government is like or required to do.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thats because those in the north east remember quite well what the conservatives did for them last time, like 50%+ unemployment, so do you really think they will vote tory?!
You must be quite young Lee not to remember that

I must have selective memory, Tony

Sunderland, in particular are notorious for "tradition and generation" voting.
No other party has a chance. Shame really.
I have never voted Labour and I am not young

No surprise to see it's service as usual up here... especially Glasgow(benefit scrounger/junkie central).

Labour really are heroes of the working classes though. Remind me again how letting a country go to ruin while using all your resources to keep the average joe happy and make sure they continue to vote for you makes you a hero?

But as long as you make sure you keep taxes low and don't cut spending to public services we'll vote for you! There's the small issue of what happens later, but lets not get bogged down on that folks, we've got to enjoy ourselves...

Thumbs down

I find the result so far very depressing. I had hoped the Tories would get an overall majority and would then be able to get the tough economic stuff started - like raising VAT and putting up basic rate.

And the thought of Brown carrying on is a disgrace. I suppose it's possible that someone may have a quiet word with Brown and change their leader which would probably be Milliband. But a Labour/Lib Dem pact would mean that political lightweight, Clegg, blackmailing Labour and nothing would get done.

And what the hell does Cameron do as he would be pushed to get the Tories to accept PR?

After Greece the world is watching now, so the spending can't carry on much longer. Its better if Flash the Cash (or his successor) has to inflict the pain on their supporters, instead of anyone else being blamed later. It'll be a short parliament and whoever is in charge will be well and properly tarred for years to come.

Milliband as leader? The "Year 8 in a suit" as he was known to teachers?

Still, better than *****, I suppose?

Agreed. George Osbourne as a puppet for Ken Clark doesn't sit well for me.

PR will provide us with what the Germans have had since the war, ongoing coalition Governments.
The current system, although old is the best as it has the best chance of providing one part rule.....

But the current system means only a few voters have any real effect on the results, I bet Ed bollocks got in here, I'm to dis-interested to look.

PR must be worth a try ?
