Default Has anyone goneover to Talk Talk broadband from BT?

What happens when you are 6 months into an 18 month contract? Do you have to settle the remaining 12 months and probably pay a disconnection charge too before you can terminate with BT?

TalkTalk is basically AOL

Oversubscribed clueless network. For the last week I have barely been able to get online, in fact I would put money on that once I have typed this post, I will have been disconnected and unable to post it.

Stay with BT.

I have found AOL to be reliable and their software is very user friendly.

We used to have TalkTalk phone and AOL broadband, before they merged, and it was the worst service we ever had. Customer services were rubbish, speed was rubbish and we spent alot of time with no internet connection.

From my experience, I wouldn't switch to them. We have now moved to Sky, and touch wood, it's been miles better. I works out loads cheaper, we had 6 months free BB and 3 months free line rental. And now they are doing a deal come June where if we sign up for another 12 months we can have our BB for £2.50 less per month.

I have been on AOL since the dial up years, I would love to change to a different ISP but im fairly limited to which ones are available from my exchange.

When its working ok its great, I get a fairly decent download speed & there's no download limits.

But every couple of month I will have a week or so when im unable to connect, & the odd occasions it does the connection doesn't last long. Looking at my mIRC today since 10am I have been disconnected 32 times.

Tech support is a waste of time unless you speak Hindi or Pun jab, even so then they just say your computer is broke & when you prove there's nothing wrong with it they blame BT.

They also have a habit of changing settings without notifying you so you are left unable to connect.

My service has been shut off twice for sending unsolicited bulk mail, I don't even use the AOL email accounts or software.

BT's internet and phone are reliable - IMHO

The BT customer service experience is dreadful, offshore call centres staffed with poorly trained people who do not really care or take ownership of anything and try to get though to England and thier UK CS is a lottery and usually not possible. We left BT because of this.

We left BT for first sky then Talk-Talk and TBH Talk talk CS has been OK so far as has the braodband. Cheaper than BT

I must be missing something somewhere then. I get a good download speed for the distance from my exchange, I have had the occasional disconnect but not that often and only for a short time, and the software does everything I have needed from it so far. They always seem to be helpful should I need it too.

The main problem with the software is removing it. It often stops responding & you cant close it so need to kill it in processes tab, but once you do that it automatically re opens its self.

(13:21:36) * Disconnected
(14:12:03) * Disconnected
(15:30:15) * Disconnected
(16:29:04) * Disconnected

starting to get really annoying now

Just curious as I use Firefox with AOL and seems pretty stable.......it's AOL's own interface which falls over itself a lot
