A lot of it is down to the pound being so weak. Even though the Euro's gone down quite a bit recently because of the Greece debt crisis, it's still around 20p higher against the pound than this time 3 years ago (each Euro costs us around 86p to buy now, compared with around 66p in 2007).
If you're still shopping around for a holiday, try going somewhere that doesn't have the Euro:

Pretty much the same story with the dollar too - that was around 51p three years ago, compared with 66p now, so Mexico might be a much better deal than US or Canada, for example.
The higher price of oil obviously doesn't help either.

We have booked a week in Turkey, cost £2200 for 5 of us all inclusive, doesnt seem and the resort comes highly rated, it isn't Mustique but it looks lovely, I think we got a discount as we are going with J4ckos mate
