The law and religion
Ooh look, another one of 'those' threads.
Just been thinking about legal matters after reading the following thread.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8672819.stm
Now it states that the previous trial of the 'Blackburn Resistance' had to be cancelled as the jury were discharged for 'legal reasons', and that made me wonder.
In cases such as this where there is an undeniable lnk between the offences and religion (Just like the halfwit who wrote that "Islam will dominate the world" on the war memorial recently), does the religion of the jury members have a direct influence on the case?
Are they dismissed purely on the basis of their chosen religion or is it the case that if jury selection has already taken place, then it becomes apparant in the course of the trial that a jury member is indeed and closet member of said religion that the case must be cancelled?
Seems like another minefield. How does this fit with 'Jury of your peers' etc?

The link it that the bloke concerned is a bit of a nutter as far as his personal religious beliefs are concerned, but it is not the fault of his religion which does not support such actions.
