Dont jailbreak your phone! - I use my officially unlocked 3GS on TMobile without any problem, before I had o2 unlock it I had the same problem as you are suffering.

If you got your phone from o2 they will unlock it for free if a contract phone or for £15 if PAYG, its an official Apple unlock sent via your iTunes account

Yeah it is O2. Got it off Pistonheads. Was selling car parts and he didn't have enough money so he gave us this cos he got the 3gs. If was contract O2, I took it on the market and got it Jailbroke and Unlocked. I'm on Orange Pay/go though. Got an O2 Pay/go sim from last year in house somewhere. Could I use that and go to an O2 shop!

Cheers for the help mate.

not sure you can do it to any old PAYG o2 sim, mine was the one with the iPhone. Id call o2 and give them the IMEI, since the phone is on contract they might even do it for free.

Here is where I did mine from

http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/unlockmyiphone.html

2 weeks later I got a popup in itunes "Congratulations your iphone is unlocked" or words to that effect

Cheer's Pal. I'll look into that. As you said though, it's not the sim that came with the phone. Plus I don't know the Original Number

Let you know how I get bud. Thanks again
