No worries gents. Sometimes a little easier to upload them to a decent source than send them out on CD's to folk

It's nice and safe on Rapidshare. I pay to use their service as it's the most reliable.

I dont mean to sound negative, but trance died ten years ago. Some of the sh*te called trance now makes me too embarrassed to tell people what I liked then...

We'll agree to disagree there then as it's a different generation of producers now. To me trance (although brilliant 10-15 years ago) has evolved. Todays sounds have more of a bassline to them, more progression and obviously any tom, dick and harry can put a track together.

Filter through the pap and for me there are some fantastic choons out there. Every single one on the above mix (aside from the remixed classics) is a belter in my book. I think trance 10 years ago now 99% of the time sounds out dated.

I'm still trying to get my head into dubstep and breakbeat.

(I must be getting old. My radio is tuned in to Radio 4!)

It is taking me ages to get into it. Haven't found anything that stays in my collection... yet.

Universal Nation is one of the 1% which never sounds outdated.

Happiness Happening and The Secret Wish I disgree with your disgreeing of my disagreement.

There is simply NOTHING these days to touch some of the classics from 8-14 years ago IMHO. It's not even close. For every great >2008 trance tune you can name I'll name 3 from that period that are way, way, way better.

That said, I downloaded and liked your mix

Gatecrasher was my local club (and I started out with them in The Adelphi, long before the move to The Republic) so my standards were always quite high. There has always been crap, but it seems so much harder to find anything worthwhile now.

With regards to Happiness Happening - you must be listening to the wrong mixes. Like all classics its been constantly resurrected and re-mixed: getting more sh*te each time. The version on Gatecrasher Red (as 'unknown artist') isnt fantastic, but the version on MoS Trance Nation (Lange Mix) is superb.

Ive dismissed new trance without listening to your MP3 of course, which I shouldnt do so I'll download it. Older will always be better though - do you remember the scene the scene in Human Traffic where Felix reminisces about the 'good old days'...?

Haha, Human Traffic is an epic film... alongside Kevin & Perry and All Gone Pete Tong on the DJ's essential "to watch" list

Thing is as a trance DJ I can't simply live 10-15 years ago in my sets. A lot of the older classics do get decent remixes for a fresher feel but generally the originals can't be bettered.

One choon which does sum up my 'Crasher days is The Digital Blonde - Legato

Oh, by the way I'm defo confirmed for the Digital Society pre-party in on July 9th. Hopefully this is a break into something more regular away from the sh1te cheese round Scunny.

Will give it a squizz, used to love trance, but i tend to listen to psy-trance more nowadays, no idea who any of the artists are apart from 2/4 of the bigger named ones, but i could do with a new mix.

I started DJing back in 2002 on Numarks. They were crap so bought the 1210 mk3d ltd edition ones. Sold one in 2008 to buy 2 Denon CDJ's as Cd mixing is much more precise, you can do more in the ways of manipulation and it's far, far cheaper. Vinyl may be the way for certain types, but for trance, CD's is better overall, especially if not using crappy mp3 discs and proper audio ones.
