I am taking my wife to Rome for her 40th birthday in June.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality hotel (4/5 star) in the city centre/near to usual tourist spots?

I had a look at La Griffe Hotel website, but vistor's reviews were not favourable.

Hotel Bernini.
Brilliant, fantastic views, right next to a Metro station, 5 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain, loads of restaurants nearby, and it was featured in Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons".
What more do you want?

Hotel Grand Plaza - not cheap but very nice and close to the Spanish Steps etc
