Vendors won't have to fork out hundreds of pounds to put there houses up for sale they will only need an epc.

HIP were never properlty going to work anyway, as if you were a buyer you'd still have to pay for a survey. Full survey should have been included for potential buyers to view.
Waste of time and money. Glad the Tories are scrapping them.

Hi Paul hope all is well mate an epc is energey performance certificate, I just feel sorry for everyone that will lose jobs and It will be intresting to see how things are affected in the housing Market. I think it's a great time if your a buyer as the Market will be flooded with properties. If your in the property game agent, broker or solicitor your buggered as so many people will be testing the Market. If banks don't start lending I can see property prices dropping again.

I am pretty sure someone on SN was training to provide HIP's to potential sellers - at thier own cost. It does seem a shame but i guess it wil lbenefit more people in the long run.
Energy Performance cert - ah Ha! that makes sense to have one, especially with the cost of energy these days.

Here in Scotland we have the buyers pack with a home survey supplied by vendor.
Having looked at a few investments over the last year I was glad these were brought in. Some of the flats gave you real pointers to some future investment required to bring up to standard, especially in one case woodworm in the loft rafters. This would effect valuation and any mortgage you wished to purchase well in my case anyway.
This was not welcomed on its start by Estate Agents and Lawyers and to an extent by valuers who were making a mint form cloned appraisals on same property. But I for one fully appreciate it allowed me time and little expense to compare properties quickly and with a inspection in place to assist. I would not fully trust them if going ahead but it is a aid at no expense to purchaser as it is a basic appraisal and sometimes not accepted by your mortgage lender.
The other point having heard on the news the HIP put of sellers. Well if you could not afford or want to do this you were not really a seller were they.

It was a joke, I paid £200 when the market was down and HIPs companys were desperate. The guy they sent out to do the EPC was clueless - asked me if the stud wall I'd put in was a cavity wall, lol.

I think property prices will drop unless banks start lending, it's crazy they should of just left it alone or intruduced a similar system to the one in Scotland to speed up the process.

Just to add, after looking at it, it is the most basic of forms and I wondered what I had actually paid my money for because basically I had to fill in the majority of the info for them !

Paid for two in the last month.
Never mind.
As for those losing their jobs, well if you have trained for this recently then it's your own fault, the Tories always said it was going to be scraped if they gained power.
