Privatisation of poorly performing schools. "Super Teacher" created by freedom of wage packets. No control of what schools teach?
The two things I really didn't want

The missus gave me something to read about regarding the school thing a while ago.
I could not work out if its a good thing or not, i dont think education is going to have much spent on it for the foreseeable future, so maybe the extra cash being brought in could be good?

At the moment I'm not sure about the schools thing
But, if Chris Keates is dead against it, it must have some good points

They ultimate idea is to put failing schools into private hands. Name me one area where privatisation hasn't been either a complete failure or taken years to get right.
I wouldn't mind so much but my daughter is 8 and the next 10 years in state education I've got every bone crossed that she doesn't suffer because of this bad idea.
Rather than fighting an unwinnable war for at best tenuous reasons, spend the money on government run education and not palm the children of the great unwashed onto the private sector - because of course the tories believe the only people worth knowing went to private school.

You mean, just like most Labour ex-Ministers?? Funny how they keep bleating on about 'Eaton boys' from the Tories when most of them had just as expensive a school upbringing! The question for ministers should be 'how can we bring state education up to the standards of Eaton'? Not 'how can we drag down educational standards to the state level'.

I'm sure there's some irony in the fact it's spelt "Eton".
