My standard reply would have been Bosch + John Lewis = Done

However Bosch come with a standard 2 yr warranty where ever you buy so on-line retailers come into play

http://www.bootskitchenappliances.co...ification=true

This one is £30 cheaper that JL (£20 delivery is offset by £14 worth of Boots points) + £14 Quidco + If you can find them, promotional codes.

Ordered from here myself before with no problems.

This is above your budget so others may point you in a different direction as I don't have any experience with other brands.

Doubt you'll get one that's safe for washing babies within your budget. Cats should be OK though. HTH.

I bought a Bosch (Excel level) about 6yrs ago and never had any issues with it. From memory cost just under £300 from Co-op electricals.

Recently got an Indesit Moon, about 260 thru Argos instead of 320. Love the simplicity of it. Good wash, good spin, and quick wash is helpful too.
Would recommend it. Not your usual looking machine though.

I may go for either a new Panasonic, or the LG direct drive, when ours gives up the ghost.

+1 for Bosch.

We got one to replace our Indesit which had given us about 8 years of service - including kids clothes for the last 3 years of its life. The repair man that came to look at it said that with kids, he'd recommend Bosch.

Interestingly, he also recommended the "big box" powders over liquid detergents. IIRC it was the spindle that failed on our Indesit, and he put it down to the chemicals in the liquids corroding it.

Yep, thats the reason I got one. But there are usually 500 quid and over.
Mine has the steam wash, with a baby clothes setting.
Recently got the tumble dryer to match, 700 quid in Comet/Dixons etc, got it for 510 from Appliance City. Great firm, on the cashback websites too.

Much Bosch isnt made in Germany, its made in Spain with many other lesser brands - sometimes identical or with cosmetic differences and other times with common parts.

German Bosch is excellent, but its the expensive stuff.

I have a Bosch fridge which is currently freezing everything in it - Spanish...

Just to throw another make into the thread, we bought an AEG washer / dryer for £300 from Co op online 4 years ago, the kids are now 6 and 3 and the machine has been overloaded constantly and the dryer used in the winter or for those special occaisions when every baby grow inthe house isn't dry. Probably does 10 loads a week, every week.

No issues to date!

GC8, Are you sure...................................Some of the Bosch stuff, Cooling, does actually come out of the German Factories. Either that or i went blind on the factory visit.

If your Fridge is freezing everything, warm it up a bit, call Appliance Care to sort it out.

Bosch Appliances and Siemens are in essence the same.

Owned by B/s/h as are Neff & Gaggenau.

Thanks.

Miele +2. Costs more initially, but lasts for ever and gets you massive brownie points from other half...
