Bit of trivia for you. years ago and I mean years ago my dad was in a well known department store and noticed that as the escalators passed each other in that scissor formation, there was a danger of arms, heads whatever being trapped.
It seems that no-one over the years had seen the danger. he contacted the store and the manufacturers of the escalators and that is why on every store where they pass each other like that, you now have plastic curved shields.



Bet many a parent has given small thanks for those

Last time he did it was on the conveyor taking you through the underwater glass tunnel at Blue Planet aquarium.

That and climing onto the roof of the house, the parents to this day, don't know how I did it

Yup, done nearly that when I was a kid except I let go half way up, bounced a bit and it hurt but was ok. Sod falling from the height that little boy did though! Good thing that guy was switched on to what the kid was up to!
