What sort of car do you use to transport them about in?
When I mean large, I'm thinking GSD's and taller, up to Great Dane size.
Cheers

3 Rotties - Shogun 3 dr, converted to 2 seater (like the 4 work model)
Loads of height, good flat floor, decent space. They can all sleep intertwined.
If we ever had 4, I'd get a van.

My new car is a Honda Civic Type S - GT 2.2 Diesel and she fits just fine in the hatchback.
The new WRX is way too shallow .....

and that one looks a little big for a Fiesta![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I'm tempted by a Focus estate if he'll fit - cheap to replace the pieces he eats

We have an English Mastiff and she travels in the back of an A4 Avant and occasionally in the back of a Mk5 Golf hatch. When she's fully grown (currently 7 months old) the Golf might be a squeeze!

2 bitches fitted in the back of a Passat estate. Just.
Biggest problem you'll face other than internal floor to roof height is access. Newfoundland pups shouldn't be allowed to jump in and out and even fully grown you need to be careful to avoid over stressing joints and associated soft tissue. Older dogs will simply look at you as if to say "you want me to do what ?"

So get something low enough that he can literally step in and out when fully grown and be prepared to either lift him in and out when he's a pup, or if you get something higher buy a ramp.
