Default Are birds nesting AGAIN?

This morning I noticed two sparrows collecting bits of dead grass and moss in our garden, and have just been into town where I noticed a pigeon collecting twigs.

Now I know for a certainty that the blacky which nested in our garden has had THREE broods already. So are they having more?

****ehawk chicks are about 1/3 size of adults on roofs of the flats opposite , 2 from each nest ,so far ....iv seen raiding parties where some larger gulls swoop in trying to pick off the youngsters - unsuccessfully

I assume this is a part of the din ,created by the parents

Bird nesting season runs from March to September. You could also get into trouble with the law for destroying nesting sites.

Strange, I thought they stopped having chicks after midsummer, and that was why bird calls stopped too. There are hardly any singing now

Not alerting others to their territory, etc?

Its malting time so birds like to hid away and keep quiet as they caqn not fly as well and are prone to being eaten.

I was told that they often produce more than one brood in a season.

Sure.........but more than THREE?

And if they are still having chicks, they need the territory and should be defending it, so why have they stopped singing?

Maybe they can hear themselves.

Bird nesting season encompases nearly all native birds, be it ground, cliff, or tree bird. Some will have multiple offspring, some wont, its dependent upon species and the local conditions (habitat suitability, food availability, and predation).
