How will the *this* Tory government cope with strikes
Cos i imagine it could happen big time . Possibly like Maggie did ?
or will the mainly white collar workers just roll over and just accept the enevitablity of it all
i guess the alliance with the liberals will soften the tory line

I think their methods will be pretty simple. We have job shortages, and those who have them have to keep them for longer before they retire....
....soooo, strike, get sacked, and the new person is hired for even less. I think that will be the coping strategy.

Strike about what? A payfreeze for 2 yrs?
Lots in the private sector have managed just fine.
Doubt we will see any unrest. The BA and royal mail strikes have confirmed that striking had its place 20-30yrs ago, but not in this day and age.

The Unions will bring this country to it's knees.
I'm sick of hearing the Public sector workers complaining that they are about to get a 2 year pay freeze. Boo-*******-hoo. I work in the private sector, and for the last 2 years, i've recieved a pay freeze, and a pay cut.
My pension is also worth Fcukall.
Maybe I should strike? Oh no wait, I'll be fired.

Has somebody forgot to tell BA this?
I'm in the private sector and work for a transmission supplier. We also had a pay freezae last year but got also got a nice bonus that sort of balanced it out. Not sure what will happen this October though. We have seen a fall in business, especially in the industrial sector such as concrete crusher builders. However commercial marine, inparticular wind farm support vessel transmission orders have gone through the roof.
It's a weird old world out there at the moment and I personally hope that this government still keep pushing the 'green energy' bill as it is keeping us afloat at the moment.

I think most will aceept the fact that the economy is in a mess and we are not that far off the fate of Greece if the government spending and borrowing goes on as it did under the previous plonkers.
If we got to the position where no one wants to buy Government bonds any more then it will all fold up and its not too difficult to imagine what life would be like in those circumstances.
There will doubtless be attempts at politically driven strikes but hopefully people will realise how dangerous that would be to the financial survival of this country.
As far as I can see, the budget was as fair as they could make it. We will all feel its effects because we have been living beyond the country's means for so long. Its payback time, it can't be avoided in spite of the blethering from the far lefties.
